January 19, 20241 yr Not surprised to see Justin fall, he has had some very good music but nothing of note in a awhile

January 19, 20241 yr Justin had a very good run of solo singles up until the first half of 'The 20/20 Experience' but from part 2 onwards he's been significantly more inconsistent for me albeit still putting out the occasional good song. Can't say I'm massively excited for his new stuff this year but hopefully he can surprise me. I'm surprised that Eminem is higher than he was last time. 'Godzilla' aside none of his other recent releases hold a candle to his classic stuff. Good that we do have one rapper in the top 10 I guess but it should really be Kendrick here x
January 19, 20241 yr Justin’s first solo album is an essential noughties pop moment for me, so many great songs! Also Eminem is a legend his first three albums were basically classics and The Eminem Show is an album I still love listening to every year at some point!
January 19, 20241 yr My biggest loss since I last commented was Stevie Wonder who I put in my top 5! What a voice and so many classic songs, albeit not too well-represented by his chart-toppers :kink: Nice to see Troye doing so well, have followed him since the start of his music career and it's wonderful that his latest era has been a commercial success. If only 'Easy' had been a smash! Also gave some lower points to Will Young (favourites: 'Jealousy', 'Who Am I' and 'All Time Love'), Robbie Williams (OMG the 'Come Undone' love in here is making my heart swell as it's my favourite of his which I thought was a hot take, his Netflix documentary made me revisit his back catalogue which really reminded me how many of his hits I enjoy), Justin Timberlake ('Cry Me A River' or 'What Goes Around... Comes Around' would be my favourite I think, he's great when on form) + Eminem ('Lose Yourself' and 'Stan' ftw)
January 20, 20241 yr I got so sick of Eminem always rapping about himself and dissing his family, but he has a good number of all time greats of course.
January 20, 20241 yr Eminem is my favourite rapper bar none. His delivery and his lyrics are undeniable genius, though more so his earlier stuff, as others have said. A well deserved top ten finish!
January 20, 20241 yr Author NO 7- PRINCE ( 12)- 368 POINTS (Voters: Spiceboy-18pts, Vibe- 7pts, Leonardo- 29pts, Jade- 28pts, Ansel- 14pts, Padamic Tension- 16pts, Jord- 25pts, Ready for it- 11pts, Lukuzz- 23pts, Bjork- 13pts, Roba- 5pts, Marcinjaro-24pts, Smint- 21pts, Voyager- 19pts, Garyfeld- 24pts, !!!-14pts, Jimwatts-28pts, Chez Wombat- 20pts, Dandy*-29pts) TOTAL UK TOP 40 HITS: 39 BIGGEST HIT: THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN THE WORLD (#1, 1994) AmGVAu9lk6I
January 20, 20241 yr Prince is obviously a legend with some essential tracks in his discography but sadly I couldn't find any room for him in my votes. I guess I just don't appreciate him as much as others do!
January 20, 20241 yr Prince is a legend - Purple Rain and 1999 are my favs! How do you check polyhex for his chart histories post 1994 when he was known as a symbol??
January 20, 20241 yr Author Prince is a legend - Purple Rain and 1999 are my favs! How do you check polyhex for his chart histories post 1994 when he was known as a symbol?? Put "symbol" into the search engine :D
January 20, 20241 yr Prince was a genius - my favourites of his are 'Sign O' The Times', 'Purple Rain' and 'When Doves Cry'. Same points as Jade again (as with Lana, Amy & Kate Bush), and after having the same 30 pointer as Voyager, wonder if my 29 pointer will be shared too...
January 20, 20241 yr Prince  I imagine I gave him more points than last time around as I've really grown to appreciate him a lot more in recent years. I can understand why someone wouldn't get him, he can be quite hit and miss but I've come to realise that his hit moments more than make up for his more dodgy ones. His Purple Rain and Sign o' the Times eras are obvious classics but I also now really love the early 90s from him with the Diamonds and Pearls and Symbol albums, the NPG is very of its time but I do love the early 90s vibe.
January 20, 20241 yr The weekly SyncTube sessions have definitely highlighted a few not so great songs from Prince but he's another one whose best work is undeniable so a well deserved top 10 even though I'd not have voted for him myself.
January 21, 20241 yr Author NO 6- CALVIN HARRIS ( 8)- 420 POINTS (Voters: Vibe- 6 pts, Cow P- 16pts, Rough Edges- 28pts, Rabbitfurcoat- 11pts, Mango- 9pts, Leonardo- 22pts, Mack- 29pts, Jade- 11pts, Josh!- 30pts, Detonate- 27pts, Jord- 20pts, Gezza- 25pts, Lukuzz- 3pts, Roba- 13pts, Gooddelta- 28pts, Jason- 28pts, Nick F1- 29pts, Smint- 4pts, Riser- 28pts, Jimwatts- 16pts, Chez Wombat- 24pts, JulianT- 13pts) TOTAL UK TOP 40 HITS: 42 BIGGEST HIT: DANCE WIV ME (#1, 2008) I’M NOT ALONE (#1, 2009) WE FOUND LOVE (#1, 2011) SWEET NOTHING (#1, 2012) UNDER CONTROL (#1, 2013) SUMMER (#1, 2014) BLAME (#1, 2014) FEELS (#1, 2017) ONE KISS (#1, 2018) PROMISES (#1, 2018) MIRACLE (#1, 2023) Sc41b25cft4
January 21, 20241 yr My favourite from Calvin is 'Acceptable In The 80s', and I think 'Miracle' is up there with his best, along with 'One Kiss'.
January 21, 20241 yr Same points as Jade again (as with Lana, Amy & Kate Bush) *.* Prince's Purple Rain album well and truly blew me away <3 definitely an all-time great record, with 'When Doves Cry' being my overall favourite song of his. Like Dandy, I am starting to appreciate more of his 90s work too, thanks to TOTP repeats. On top of this, I'm even a 'Batdance' defender :kink: what a brilliant mind and incredible talent. My favourite Calvin material comes from the 2000s (with 'Acceptable In The 80s' and 'I'm Not Alone' being my top 2 of his) but he's still had plenty of good tunes since then, 'Miracle' last year included.
January 21, 20241 yr Pleasantly surprised to see my 30 pointer in tact still although I predict they may be next out! Still feeling Michael’s gonna win this again. JTs an essential male act for me which may be unpopular on this forum now. Pretty much his first four albums I could hear as a whole (especially the first three) Man of the woods has its moments too. I’m definitely here for a new era from him now but could not at all call how it would do but I suspect he’ll do better than people would imagine regardless of the past stories resurfacing. Prince has some absolute classics and was such a huge talent so very happy to see him still appear highly. Calvin is probably my favourite DJ esque act although I’m not sure if I’m biased as he’s worked with a lot of people I like so it’s more his features I’m fond of but can’t deny his writing and production talents.
