Away with work until Wednesday so the results will recommence then!

Oh my the retro taste from !!! ;)

You Send Me, Wonderful World and Chain Gang are my faves.

'Nazis 1994' by Roger Taylor was actually played on the chart show back then! It's absolutely impossible to imagine Radio 1 touching something like that nowadays even though it's an anti facist and sadly prophetic song.

poor Jose Gonzalez, knew no one else was gonna vote for him, so much talent <3

Heartbeats is such a classic gem

I considered José but he just missed out for me. I marked him down slightly because all of my faves of his were cover versions (agree that Heartbeats is a lovely cover version, although for me the original by The Knife is more noteable)

I really like his song with Zero 7 too, 'Futures'

Pete is throwing out some curious nominations here! I mean 'Jacques Your Body (Make Me Sweat)' is a classic obvz but has Les Rythmes Digitales really done enough to justify being ranked as the 18th best male solo artist of all time? (I guess he has a much wider body of work if you count his production work for other artists but that feels a bit beside the point of this poll).

I think that's a lot to do with the fact that I like songs a lot more than I do artists! So when it comes to countdowns like these, after the Top 5 it's very much thinking about which artists have release more than one song I've enjoyed - Les Rhythmes Digitales had a few good songs on his album so that was enough to get him into the list :magic:

Oops that's my first nomination gone, I haven't actually heard an album by Eric Prydz, but he is a rather consistent producer and I have enjoyed a lot of his work (not a lot of his best work were his hits mind :'()
Must admit found male soloists more difficult to vote for (unlike females as tend to find I listen to them more in groups. And my favourit)e one (Tom Waites) wasn't eligible.

BIGGEST HIT: CANCELLED (#39, 2021)

Despite having quite a few hits haven't heard about Conor Maynard for like a decade... oops!

"Solo Dance" was cheesy but quite a fun hit. Always remember Prince William and Kate announcing Martin Jensen's chart position on the chart show when they guested.

Stephen Sanchez was one I considered - as well as his big hit I liked most of the follow-ups - and I really like 'Witness (1 Hope)' from Roots Manuva but don't know much else by him.

How ‘Witness(1 Hope) only got to no45 I will never know, a huge underground song during my uni years!

Slowthai :hitler:

Roots & Kano

There's a good 8-10 songs Roots Manuva has appeared on which I think are great, his final foray into the UK chart probably my favourite of his.

I was a huge fan of the last 2 slowthai albums (and what I heard from the one before that as well although I never listened to it in full) but it is kind of hard to want to root for him now oops. Fitting that his only top 40 hit was called 'CANCELLED' I suppose x

RY X is a nice inspired choice too, I kind of forgot he had a top 40 hit!

Quite liked Conor Maynard's first album but that's nowhere near enough for him to make it through to my votes.

I'm wondering if I'll lose my 23 pointer in the next batch or whether someone else will have voted for him!

John Mayer's a pretty good pick! Loving Say (The Kung-Fu Karate Kid background song) and New Light, which sadly weren't UK hits.
Lay Me Down was number 1 thanks to Sam Smith (Sam was so popular at the time), All of Me is John Legend's biggest hit you know.
