February 19, 20241 yr #2 in the midweeks! Almost a 7k lead on the #3 so I think she should be safe to at least stay top 3 if Noah Kahan does overtake. Pity it wasn’t enough for a #1 debut but she’s maintained sales pretty well from the last album and there’s not many British females who’ve had the success she’s had across the albums chart in terms of consistency. An easy 6th top ten at worst! 11,495 sales sold so far. I’ve also ordered a copy now. There are some signings later in the week but am I right in thinking that those sales may already be counted or do you buy the album at the signing itself? Edited February 19, 20241 yr by JLJ
February 20, 20241 yr I went to the HMV signing last night - it wasn’t sold out and they offered wristbands as we walked in the store but there was still a healthy turnout. Pre-ordered the vinyl for the signing but also picked up a CD too. On second+ listening to the album I’m now really into it, definitely a better/more solid album than I thought on first listen. She has some more signings this week so hopefully a solid opening week and Top 3 debut.
February 20, 20241 yr Finally got round to listening to the album! The new way of releasing lots of material before the album dose take excitement away!! Out of the new songs Sweatpants, Crying On The Floor and Already Broken are my stand outs so far!! Still living the singles!! Decent album.
February 20, 20241 yr I gave the album a listen today, afraid to say nothing really stood out to me other than How to Leave a Man. :( It’s an okay album, but that’s about it. I don’t really get the hype for Cry on the Dance Floor although it is one of the albums better moments.
February 20, 20241 yr Weird album. But I like Bad Woman a lot more after seeing a live performance of it. Not really what I come to Paloma for all in all though. I don't think the album cover goes with the title either.
February 21, 20241 yr Is Enjoy Yourself the 3rd single? A red nose day version seems to have been added to Spotify.
February 21, 20241 yr There's physicals releasing for Comic Relief: Award-winning singer-songwriter Paloma Faith has teamed up with Amazon to release ‘Enjoy Yourself’ (The Red Nose Day Edition) in support of Comic Relief for this year’s Red Nose Campaign. The track is available to stream now on Amazon Music, or pre-order as a CD for £5.99 and vinyl for £12.99 on Amazon. At least £3 from the purchase of each CD and at least £6.50 from the purchase of each vinyl of ‘Enjoy Yourself’ (The Red Nose Day Edition) on Amazon.co.uk will be donated to Comic Relief. Additionally, a percentage of the proceeds generated from every completed stream of ‘Enjoy Yourself’ (The Red Nose Day Edition) on Amazon Music in the UK between 21 February and 22 March 2024 will be donated to Comic Relief.
February 21, 20241 yr Holding at #2 in midweeks. I think she’ll likely manage to stay at #2 for its official debut. Some midweek sales info from the Friday predictions thread. Looks like IDLES have it in the bag but I don’t think Noah will quite catch up to Paloma for this week. 1. IDLES - TANGK (17,600) * 2 Paloma Faith - The Glorification of Sadness (12,680) * 3 Noah Kahan - Stick Season (6,805)
February 23, 20241 yr Officially debuts at #2! Her third #2 debut but keeping that top ten streak in tact. Come to think of it she’s had pretty strong longevity considered she debuted in 2009 and for a British female to still score a top 2 debut 15 years into their career is pretty good going. A shame it couldn’t snag a week at #1 though ^_^
February 23, 20241 yr 'Sweatpants' added to Radio 2's playlist today so confirmed as the next single.
February 24, 20241 yr The album hasn't made the top 50 here in Ireland, the full top 100 isn't published yet so hopefully its at least made the top 100.
February 26, 20241 yr At #24 in the Monday midweek this weeks. Slightly ahead of IDLES which beat her to the #1. Hopefully it can at least manage a few more weeks top 75 and even manage to hold on to get a second week top 40. The second week drop isn’t quite as drastic as what some other females had in their week 2 (tbf not just females but in general towards acts who are more pure sales orientated to streams) Still as high as #3 on iTunes although that doesn’t amount to much. Wonder what promo we can get before the tour? I think TV wise it’s only really Saturday Night Takeaway what might be impactful enough. Edited February 26, 20241 yr by JLJ
February 28, 20241 yr Probably my least favourite Paloma album to date. The songs aren’t as catchy or strong. I much prefer the architect or infinite things.
February 29, 20241 yr I think it's between this and Infinite Things for my least favourite, although neither is by any means a bad album. The Architect is definitely her best for me
March 1, 20241 yr Second week position of #37. I really do like this album! Shes very consistent with me though not a bad album yet. Sales only wise the album was at #6 which isn’t too bad. Definitely looks like there’s just not much of a streaming market for Paloma these days though which we already knew really. I actually think the album itself is pretty commercial and if certain tracks had a push they *could* do something but still when albums have fallen outside top 100 in week 2 a second week top 40 is a bit of a result. Edited March 1, 20241 yr by JLJ
March 1, 20241 yr Author Yeah, I think that's a fair enough result. When you think her last album went 4-21, that was 4 years ago and the album market has changed quite significantly since then.
March 2, 20241 yr Listening to the album this afternoon. Cry On The Dance Floor is still a highlight but so is Let It Ride
