Also with 7/20:

Number 30: Cher - Just Like Jesse James

13/01/1990 Cher Just Like Jesse James 11 60-41-36-25-18-15-{11}-17-28-50-70->11

This was the follow up to “If I Could Turn Back Time” from her 19th ( :o :o ) studio album “Heart Of Stone”, and had quite a long chart climb by 1990 standards but fell just short of the Top 10.

You were going to have “It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over” by Lenny Kravitz instead of this, but then I remembered that was featured in Mango’s drum intro quiz so thought I’d use something else. I was so excited about using one of my favourite Cher songs that I forgot it didn’t fit the theme properly. :arrr:

6/20 correct now:

Number 27: Pet Shop Boys - I Wouldn’t Normally Do This Kind Of Thing

11/12/1993 Pet Shop Boys I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing 13 16-{13}-20-24-26-45-58->7

A fun whistley intro on this one, which came deep into the career of the electro-pop duo. It was the follow up to the big #2 hit and their last Top 5 single “Go West”, from the album “Very”.

30 sounded like a different version of 'Knockin On Heaven's Door' to me or something similar. Cher not being a surprise though, although I haven't really heard that one on my own accord ever much lol!

Absolutely love that Cher song, easily my favourite thing she's ever done

I'm surprised so few people recognised the PSB intro.

Don’t click on the video Roba!

Oh yeah, just realised this is another case where the intro on the video is different  the song was remixed for the single version so I assume one of them is the album version.

I kinda considered Cher as the most guessed one :D

How did so many recognize the Juice Wrld song!!!??! thought Shazam wasn't allowed :D

I'm surprised not more people got 'Robbery' because I assumed the lyrics in the clip would be Google-able... just checking, the clearest words to me are "man" "what" "this shit funny" "strong as f***", and searching that gives you nothing but 'Robbery'! Or did people feel searching lyrics would be cheating? I'd have assumed it's allowed since NMTBJ clips are normally instrumental. Good song anyhow!

'Just Like Jesse James' is one of my favourite Cher songs too yet I did find it challenging! 'Knockin' On Heaven's Door' is a good shout for something similar-sounding; I had 'Fade Into You' and 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn' in mind.

Don't know the other 3 of the last 5 - don't think I've even heard of 'Walking In The Air'. Surprisingly I still have 1 song left!

I didn't google any lyrics, but I had a feeling "Hennessy strong as f***" might be Juice WRLD - I'd worked out the theme (I think...) by then, so it was easy to narrow down his discography.

I was able to deduce several more by searching for songs which fit it, but my resources for this didn't quite stretch to 'Funhouse' and 'Satellite' - though I probably should have got at least one of those anyway - and I knew number 30 didn't quite fit the theme so that threw me off, although I have heard the song before. That was also my guess for least correctly answered, but I was also considering three others which are still to come. Still no idea of the order, beyond the guess I cobbled together...

Julian, did I get Juice WRLD? I didn't think I did but you've listed me as one of the ones who did! I did fleetingly consider it so I don't know why I didn't investigate his discography a bit further. Anyway just checking as you might need to deduct 4 points from my score!

'Walking In The Air' is one of the three I didn't get. I enjoy the song and listen to it every Christmas, I just had no idea it started like that (unless I've been playing a different version all these years!)

Thanks - no you didn’t; just a typo in the list now fixed.

I didn't partake in this as per but I'd be confident in saying 'Robbery' would be one of the few I'd have got (especially if the clip had vocals in it).

I've been following the results trying to figure out what the theme could be and I'm completely drawing a blank

The way I got the theme was by listing the songs on a spreadsheet along with certain key details about each song :kink: once you do that, it becomes pretty obvious!

And now one that every single participant got partially right, but where only 5 got the full credit:

Number 10: Glee Cast Featuring Gwyneth Paltrow - Forget You

05/03/2011 Glee Cast Featuring Gwyneth Paltrow Forget You 31 {31}-49->2

Having featured Coldplay I thought it only fair to include Chris Martin’s ex as well… Gwyneth appeared in a few episodes of Glee and reached the Top 75 four times thanks to them. In total the Glee Cast had a whopping 100 Top 75 hits over a period of less than 3 years.

I do always like to stick a banana skin in somewhere. This does sound different from the Cee Lo Green intro but you probably to need to compare them side by side to know!

1 point for “Cee Lo Green - F**k You” which is technically the wrong artist and title:

Danvember

I originally thought that was the Cee Lo version and also had it as the most guessed and red herring, with the link being that the Glee Cast cover fit the theme instead! Only a late lightbulb moment led me to knowing one of the other songs was the red herring instead, and giving the Glee Cast version a play on Spotify to realise how similar the intros were. Guess I was originally right in guessing that everyone knew it was this song in some form!

And now the second least well answered with 5/20 correct:

Number 9: Black Box Recorder - The Facts Of Life

22/04/2000 Black Box Recorder The Facts Of Life 20 {20}-46-71->3

This was the only Top 40 hit for this indie band. It still sounds brilliant to me, and I don’t think anything else to have made the chart before or since is quite like it.
