October 17, 20231 yr I really think The Sidemen could have done it last year if they’d put the same energy into the whole week as they did in the last couple of days - they came from nowhere up to 52k and Ladbaby only did 65k.
October 17, 20231 yr There could even be a Buzzjack Christmas campaign.... ^only if it was a Kylie song :D I nominate 'Christmas Isn't Christmas 'Til You Get Here'! :D
October 17, 20231 yr Public Service Broadcasting will release a single based on QEII's Christmas speeches. It will go to number one and stay there until April :D
October 19, 20231 yr I can't help wondering if Slade's 25/1 is slightly shorter odds than the last few years, given the revelation in the media that Noddy sadly has had cancer for the last few years. It would be appropriate for Slade to get it back to Xmas #1 to mark 50 years of the first time, but I wouldn't have wished him to be ill for it to happen. Nonetheless one wonders about the choice of timing for his wife to go public about his illness, given he's already been ill for a few years at this point.
November 15, 20231 yr The Kunts (aka The Krackpots for this year) confirmed their fourth attempt at the Christmas top spot a few weeks ago with “Proper Christmas”, a clean song in a bid to actually get played on the Radio 1 chart show! No word on LadBaby yet, although I reckon they’ll give it a miss this year with how close it was in 2022. Another campaign put their hat in the ring today, getting some decent press attention too. The group behind AC/DC‘s 40th anniversary Christmas #1 campaign in 2013 are trying to get ‘Highway to Hell’ to #1 again for their 50th. Last time it reached a new peak of #4 on the chart.
November 15, 20231 yr Sadly with Shane’s current health I could see The Pogues being a contender. I think it would be quite fitting if they did.
November 15, 20231 yr I’m sorry to put this out into the universe, but in the absence of LadBaby and Sidemen, I can see Ed Sheeran and Elton John’s “Merry Christmas” getting Number One. Edited November 15, 20231 yr by _Clo_
November 15, 20231 yr this year will probably be the start of Wham just getting christmas number one every year by default then which I guess is still preferable than LadBaby
November 15, 20231 yr I’m sorry to put this out into the universe, but in the absence of LadBaby and Sidemen, I can see Ed Sheeran and Elton John’s “Merry Christmas” getting Number One. Is it still on SCR this year? The songs on SCR always have the advantage, so if it is I think it may have a chance
November 15, 20231 yr Is it still on SCR this year? The songs on SCR always have the advantage, so if it is I think it may have a chance It should be, it was released in 2021. Edited November 15, 20231 yr by _Clo_
November 15, 20231 yr Another campaign put their hat in the ring today, getting some decent press attention too. The group behind AC/DC‘s 40th anniversary Christmas #1 campaign in 2013 are trying to get ‘Highway to Hell’ to #1 again for their 50th. Last time it reached a new peak of #4 on the chart.Looks like they're trying a different song, not 'Highway To Hell' again: https://planetradio.co.uk/planet-rock/news/...mas-number-one/ Launching their campaign over the weekend, AC/DC We Salute You wrote: ‘In 2013 we all came together to celebrate 40 years of AC/DC by giving them their highest ever UK Singles Chart placing... Highway To Hell at No.4...well we're going to choose another track and see if we can get 3 places higher for their 50th anniversary. Are you in? If so join this group and invite everyone.’ Organisers are yet to announce what song will feature in the campaign, however ‘Thunderstruck’, ‘Touch Too Much’, ‘Back in Black’, ‘Mistress for Christmas’ and ‘Hells Bells’ are among the fan suggestions.
