Shame Jack beat Dua seeing as the latter was plastered over mainstream media and radio stations and the former’s song came out of nowhere

Why Houdine isn't as popular on TikTok like Jack Harlow's song?

I like Jack's song though. :D

Well done Jack, so deserved such a catchy song. Can see it being number 1 next 2 weeks till Christmas music takes over.
That’s the point. If there were no new entries in the album chart and Taylor stayed at #1 for that reason, then fair enough but not when there’s loads of new entries. If the singles chart was as fast as the album chart, you’d all be celebrating

Not everyone loves their life's through how fast a chart runs and care more about quality and their faves doing well.

Biography

“I still wanna be one of the greats,“ rapper Jack Harlow tells Apple Music about his commitment to his craft. “I’m very ambitious about this. And I think I have what it takes to really make a mark because I love the art.” Harlow, born in 1998 in Kentucky, is well on his way to turning that dream into reality. Growing up in Louisville, Harlow started writing and rapping at the age of 12 and released his bouncy first EP before graduating from school in late 2015. Since his more fully realised mixtape, 18, dropped in 2016, Harlow has continued to inject his chill party rap and poppy beats with “addictive, candy-coated qualities,” as he described it to Apple Music. “It’s good on the ears.” With 2017’s Gazebo, he established a more mature sound, moodily riding through his hometown with the intense “Dark Knight” and keeping things dreamy using synth pulses on the regret-laden “Wasted Youth”. It’s a vibe he honed on multiple mixtapes in the late 2010s, keeping with a feel he says is representative of Louisville—smooth and laidback—while exploring elements of trap, which is native to his adopted home base of Atlanta. With every beat on 2020’s punchy, swaggering Sweet Action, Harlow moved closer to the place he sees as his inevitable destination: “On top.” - Apple Music

boo Houdini beaten by Jack Harlow

the better song lost here

too bad Dua Lipa cannot mobilise all those IG followers that like her pics of travelling and food to buy physicals

Shame Jack beat Dua seeing as the latter was plastered over mainstream media and radio stations and the former’s song came out of nowhere

Surely that shows that Jack’s song is more popular then? As much as I like both songs, I think Jack more than deserves the number 1 because people have actively seeked it out rather than it being all over radio stations etc

pleased Dua has managed a top 2 peak anyhow, shame it just so happened to come out the same week as a genuinely bigger song but oh well - the Jack song is undeniably catchy and good too
Yes I do. You’re happy for an album to hog #1 but you all bitch and moan when a single is doing just that

It’s just 3 weeks! Hardly the end of the world.

This has literally been all over the internet this week, all over people's TikTok's and social media stories. It's been inescapable so I think it's hard to compete with that level of exposure.

Jacks song didn’t come out of nowhere it had major tiktok hype behind it same as greedy or daylight also had!

Jack’s been all over TikTok though, hardly to say that it was out of the blue!!!

We just underestimated the hype that was happening in TikTok for him!!!

Well done to him though and Dua as well…#2 is an amazing start/peak!!!

'Poor' Chris Brown new at #41, Stray Kids at #44 and Paul Russell still climbing at #46.

EDIT: and Buzzjack's new fave When We Were Young (The Logical Song) new at #51

Edited by Jason

New peaks and new entries outside the top 40:

41. Chris Brown - Angel Numbers/Ten Toes (NEW)

44. Stray Kids - LALALALA (NEW)

45. Chris Brown ft. Davido & Lojay - Sensational (RE)

46. Paul Russell - Lil Boo Thang (+2)

51. David Guetta & Kim Petras - When We Were Young (The Logical Song) (NEW)

60. Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners - Evergreen (+24)

73. Chris Brown ft. Byron Messia - Nightmares (NEW)

78. Olivia Rodrigo - all-american bitch (NEW)

88. Sam Ryder - You're Christmas To Me (NEW)

92. Noah Kahan - You're Gonna Go Far (NEW)

100. The Weeknd, Jennie & Lily-Rose Depp - One Of The Girls (NEW)

All-American bitch debuting 😍 shame it couldn’t sneak a top 75 entry!

As much as it would be preferable if he wasn’t charting at all, screaming at Chris Brown being 11 in the album chart and 41 in the singles 😂

Much as I hate #2s and #11s lol ESP when it's a lead single & from someone like Dua ya, if she debuted at #3 (much as it's less of a momentary eye sore and very respectable) still a lower debut/peak any way you cut it.

I normally don't at all care for someone like Jack, that genre etc...He's Bieber, Timberlake etc.. & the song absolutely would've= smashed if they had the same song.

Likely won't be remembered as non throwaway, impactful classic in 6+ months lol BUT objectively, ya, it IS def instant & catchy ah. Opposite of Houdini in every possible way- watered down production but very simple & effective, lyrics, flow etc...

Houdini *not at all 'bad' already feels pretty meh/stale, like it's been out for months and lacks something. That something I feel didn't get it to #1 w/ ease. Jack's song by default is simply a bit more infectious & GP friendly.
