Morning Buzzjack! Since nobody had filled the last slot of the current quiz season, I thought I'd run a very simple chart predictions quiz.

These questions all pertain to the chart announced on Friday 15th December. For this reason, there will be a very strict deadline of 11:00 on Monday 11th December for submitting answers. This is so that you have Sunday's First Look chart to help you with your predictions, but NOT Monday's mids.

Questions are as follows.

In the Top 100 singles chart announced on Friday 15th December:

1. Who will have the #1 single?

2. How many sales will the #1 single get?

3. How many sales will the #10 single get?

4. How many Christmas songs will be in the top 100?

5. What position will 'Houdini' by Dua Lipa be?

In the Top 100 albums chart announced on Friday 15th December:

1. Who will have the #1 album?

2. How many sales will the #1 album get?

3. How many sales will the #10 album get?

4. How many greatest hits collections will be in the top 100?

5. What position will 'Midnights' by Taylor Swift be?

For both sets of questions, the points will be awarded as follows.

Q1 : 10 points if correct, nothing for anything else

Q2-3 : 10 points for player with closest guess, 7 points for next three closest guesses, 4 points for next three closest guesses, nothing for anyone else

Q4-5: 10 points if spot on, 7 points if 1-2 away, 4 points if 3-5 away, nothing for anything else

Please PM me your answers no later than 11:00 on Monday 11th December.

Good luck!

Define Christmas song does stuff like Stay Another Day and River count?

Fair question - yes, they would both count. Anything that is obviously showing up in the chart due to the festive season but wouldn't otherwise. These are usually signified on Buzzjack with a Christmas tree icon in the Top 100 singles thread, so I'll use that as the definitive consensus on whether a song is a Christmas song.

Just giving this a lil bump. Not expecting any entries yet as you'll probably want to wait for First Look on Sunday, but didn't want people to forget, as it's the last quiz of the current season.

Another bump - First Look is tomorrow so if you want to take part in this, I suggest you do it tomorrow evening!

Now that we've had Sunday's First Look, feel free to PM me your predictions, but remember you only have until 11am tomorrow!

Up to 14 now. No sign of any midweek info yet so I'll accept entries until mid-day but that will be the final cutoff point.

We had 15 participants in the end, entry for this is now closed! Results obviously won't be before Friday but I'm out for my work Xmas do on Friday night so will have to do them over the weekend (unless I get back at a reasonable time on Friday, I doubt it will be a late one).

I may as well post everyone's predictions!

Interesting that everyone went for Wham! for #1 and nearly everyone went with the Killers for the #1 album.

Quite a range of answers for the #1 album sales though.

Depending on how quickly after the chart on Friday the sales info is available, I may even post the results on Friday evening before I go out.

Looking at Houdini’s Spotify position today I think I’ve got that one badly wrong. The rest however I’m pretty happy with (for now)

[Also if someone was willing to put the effort in and it had the demand, I think it would be fun to make these kinds of predictions a more regular thing]

We used to run a similar thing predicting the albums and singles chart top 10 and the #1 singles sales which I quite enjoyed but there wasn’t enough participants so it ran its course and just stopped.

I’m fairly happy with all my answers, the only one I’m unhappy with is the greatest hits album question, I think I went far too low!

That did occur to me too but I don't think I could commit to the time and effort of running it every week, and as Liam says above I'm not even sure there would be enough demand - although it would be fun to do if there was.

I might set one up in January and see how many people participate, if you wouldn't mind me completely stealing your idea.

It's an idea that's been revived several times and always ends up being cancelled again after not too long! (Not that there's anything wrong with giving it another go x)
The old formats were too comprehensive imo like having to predict the whole top 5 or 10 in both the singles and albums. This bitesize format I think would be more popular where you just predict the odd position of a random song etc.

Go for it!

I think in reality it’s something that’s always great fun as a one off but becomes a bit of a chore as soon as you feel you have to do it every week.
