I mean we have this no? At the end of the day Buzzjack is a UK-based forum so it makes sense to have yearly compilations largely based on UK charts.

If you want some diversity in the compilation lineup, it would be good to do some geography-based compilations (though admittedly I only know very recent ones plus the songs from various online song contests :kink: )

It's a little bit pointless in Wikipedia era, because if you wish to find a big UK hits there are already the lists with all (!!!) UK top 10 singles by years (from 1952 to 2024)

Buzzjack compilations are OK, but genre/theme based (for sample like Britpop) is much more interesting thing.

The year compilations exist because the only alternative we have in the UK is Now, whose yearbooks are hampered by licensing issues and strange sequencing decisions. They used to have competition from Hits, Smash Hits, Top of the Pops, Pepsi Chart and countless other compilation series' but now have a monopoly on the market. I think it's good to have an alternative 'here's how it could look instead' for the year albums.

I’m liking the vibe for his so far despite not knowing a whole lot  The classics that I know are there though which is awesome

Criminal choice of having Justin Bieber and Matt Terry but then not Beyoncé tho

Yeah... I think for me, I'll prefer the original 'Despacito' in the compilation, but then the most popular/familiar version of 'Subeme La Radio' is the one with Sean Paul and Matt Terry. Tricky.

If anyone wants to volunteer to do a genre or a year let us know and we can discuss and assist. If you have questions drop myself, gooddelta or awardinary a message.

We'd also welcome some support with artwork/back cover. If anyone is decent with Adobe Illustrator and wants to help, let us know.

1993

My 1993 charts were very non-mainstream, so possibly nothing from my hits.

Maybe only Saint Etienne is popular enough for compilation, but their best 1993 single was peaked at # 12 in UK.

Hyped, all 4 sound interesting.

I could help out with track suggestions for new wave especially. King Rollo probably knows a lot about the genre too.

King Roll will be presenting New Wave. He suggested doing it.

I'm hoping Blue Zoo's UK top 40 one hit wonder makes it, as well as Classix Nouveaux's. The Japan (band) song that is most new wavey for me is their debut hit, same for Duran imo. For Associates I prefer Club Country and I know Rollo likes that one too.

Maybe some mid 80s new wave like King and Hollywood Beyond

although there wasnt much by that stage in the mid 80s. I hope Pat Benetar Love Is A Battlefield makes it, fab vocal and production.

I'm curious to know which definition of New Wave this refers to. In the US it meant a lot of the synth pop and New Romantic bands whereas in the UK it was more things like The Vapors, XTC and The Police. Not Punk but a polished poppier version that followed on.

I do prefer Club Country to Party Fears Two but in most cases, I've gone with the most well known or highest charting single by each act even if's not my own favourite by them.

It will be the UK definition, the three groups you mention will all be featured.

You should maybe do Synthpop next given that its main era is a similar time period. I could help with it if you want.
