That looks like a good selection, don't know quite a few of those tracks especially the late 70s ones so I will have to listen to them.

Hoped Planet Earth, Is It A Dream and The Quiet Life would have made it but maybe they will be on Synthpop.

I'll be intrigued to see where you guys have placed Meat Loaf... usually the biggest hit of the year is first track material but I've noticed on lots of compilations that Meat Loaf typically gets placed as a disc closer instead.

True, it's a curious case. I think we realised early on that if you take out charity singles, talent show winners, Diana tributes and the like, the biggest sellers of the year often have that status for a reason and do deserve to be in the mix to open.

We'll see what Colm did with 1993 though, can confirm he's put together a brilliant album that rights many of the wrongs of the Now Yearbook.

It's not too much of a spoiler also to say that I've been putting 2002 together for later in the summer and Evergreen by Will Young definitely will NOT be opening the album.

I thought you might say that.

Alas it didn't stand up to the rigorous assessment rules of BuzzJack presents

It's great that you re-discovered/discovered some tracks. Part of our mission is to have a broad document of a particular year, including stuff you might not see on a typical retrospective compilation.

I wouldnt say I'm an 80's rocker, as such, more of an 80's rock dipper here and there - but I have entered Motorhead into BJSC, and Ace Of Spades is a total classic. Seen Jon Bon Jovi do Livin' On A Prayer (acoustic), in fact here it is on youtube, my recording with 2 future bosses of mine sat on the floor in front of the audience! I've posted it before but hey a few more hits for my only Youtube posting maybe. Still an anthem, the original...

Saxon were a great Nu-Metal band, loved 747 especially, it's not given any airplay these days, rather annoyingly. AC/DC Too Too Much is a fave, Brian Johnson will always be Geordie singer for me  Spirit Of radio, classic, Please Dont Touch is fun saw Girlschool support Suzi Quatro, Deadringer classic (time Cher was given official credit, saw her back in the 80's!), Joan Jett doing her best Suzi Quatro, Eye Of The TIger topped my charts, Jump was great, Queen decent, Bryan Adams seen him twice and still prefer Run To You. Pat Benatar I'm mad on Love Is A Battlefield, in the poppier side of her career.

Out In The Fields is another forgotten goodie, The Final Countdown another classic, ditto Here I Go Again, I'd opt for Animal from Def Leppard (saw them in the 90's), Love In An Elevator still rocks, Alice Cooper a nice comeback, saw him 80's, Guns N Roses I will be predictable and opt for Sweet Child O' Mine, chart-toppingly classic, The Cult ditto, She Sells Sanctuary and I liked We Care A Lot.

Quite a few I don't know though! :o The more Thrash-based and Glam-wannabies acts were never really my cup of tea but I daresay I've got over half of these on various Rock compilation albums or single. Great to see some under-rated gems amongst the choices!
