I can't believe we have 3 country songs in the YTD top 10 in August in 2024. And 2 are by black people and 2 are by women. For a genre that is (was) seen as old-fashioned, almost American-exclusive and white male dominated for most of my life it's quite incredible.

 

I do have a theory that a lot of kids have parents now who go "I like everything except country music", which might entice more younger people to want to listen to it. But that's just a guess, I would've never expected it. Maybe we'll get a heavy metal resurgence one day lol.

I hope Billie and Chappell can knock Taylor and 'Prada' out of the top 10. Would be the freshest year end top 10 for years.

“Cruel Summer” is actually more likely to hold on than “Texas Hold ‘Em”, but “Please Please Please”, “Birds Of A Feather” and “Good Luck, Babe!” could knock both of those those plus “Prada” out.

Not looking likely that Alibi will get platinum by years end. Hopefully early 2025 though.
