Lewis has totally lost me as a fan, really liked his debut and SYL is still incredible

but the 2nd album was a mess, zero progression, bad songwriting, even worse singing...

I'm a bit late but I'm in love with Songer's Toxic. :D

That’s your opinion doesn’t mean it’s a fact, I personally loved the new album and thought it was brilliant

Biography

Some call the end of summer the “slow news season”—school's still out, vacation is in full swing, and headlines tend to get weird—and Doja Cat (born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini in 1995) knew just what to do about it. In August of 2018, the Los Angeles singer and rapper dropped “Mooo!”, a sultry R&B jam, thick with double entendres and sung from the perspective of a cow. It went viral, thanks to an unforgettable, improbably catchy chorus that had people wondering: Could she possibly be for real? But Doja, who released her debut EP, Purrr!, in 2014, and her first album, Amala, in 2018, was no novelty act. In the years since, she has proven herself one of pop music’s savviest, most audacious characters. She raps nimbly, switching up her cadence from one syllable to the next, and her pop-culture nods (referencing actresses Tia and Tamera Mowry or sampling blink-182 and Paul Anka) are just as unpredictable as her dizzying flow. Her presentation is both tough and coquettish. As she demonstrated over and over on her 2019 album, Hot Pink, she assumes a fun and fundamentally empowered stance in her singing and rapping about sex. And woe to anyone who might take issue with that: “Sex is meaningful, it is!” she told Apple Music, with her trademark defiant charm. - Apple Music

Biography

On “151 Rum,” the pyrotechnic, lyrical master class from JID’s chameleonic 2018 release, DiCaprio 2, the ATL MC raps, “Don’t compare me to no other other n****s.” On its face, it’s the sort of weightless statement thrown out by rappers since rap began, but JID’s slow-building career and versatility from album to album, track to track, gives the line an urgency and power: No one in the game raps quite like him. Born Destin Choice Route in 1990, JID came up with other Atlanta mainstays like EARTHGANG, 6LACK, and Hollywood JB. His first mixtapes brought him local acclaim, and in the early 2010s, his hyperactive rhyme scheme made him a standout amongst the narcotic Auto-Tune of other ATL staples and up-and-comers. J. Cole and Dreamville Records had been gathering a stable of lyrically obsessed, boundary-pushing MCs, so inviting JID and his kaleidoscopic vision of rap to the Dreamville cohort was an obvious choice. Route signed with the label in 2017 off the strength of mixtapes like 2015’s DiCaprio and 2016’s Bears Like This Too Much with his Spillage Village collective. But under Cole’s tutelage, JID found confidence in his underdog status as Atlanta’s wordy, hyper-intelligent lyricist. He earned comparisons to Kendrick Lamar on his label debut, The Never Story, occasionally mirroring K-Dot’s nasally flow on songs like “Despacito Too” from DiCaprio 2 while firmly establishing himself as a wholly unique stylist. Over bass-heavy, psychedelic beats, JID puts an old-school-style emphasis on incisive lyrics, energizing fans and those who touch the mic. And though he was once a student of J. Cole’s hip-hop academy, JID’s emphatically gunning to become a peer—just don’t compare him to any contemporaries. - Wikipedia

Biography

Eliza Rose

East London's Eliza Rose is a longtime radio and club DJ as well as a playful yet swaggering vocalist and producer. She released a debut EP inspired by neo-soul and vocal jazz in 2015, but became more prominent as a recording artist during the early 2020s, when she began issuing singles with producers like Peaky Beats and Cody Currie. 2022's "B.O.T.A. (Baddest of Them All)," an empowering house anthem produced by Interplanetary Criminal, was initially released through Rose's own label, then picked up by Warner after it went viral and became a festival mainstay. The song then became the 1,400th number one hit in the U.K., and was certified platinum. - Apple Music

Calvin Harris

Talk about an unexpected career trajectory. In 2007, 23-year-old Calvin Harris released I Created Disco, a cheeky shot across dance music’s bow that presented him as Scotland’s brow-arched answer to LCD Soundsystem. Fast-forward a few years, and the scruffy fellow playing house-party host in the “Merrymaking at My Place” video is suddenly baring oil-slicked abs on Emporio Armani billboards. What happened, of course, is that Harris (born Adam Richard Wiles in 1984) traded up from the Amiga computer of his teens, developed some of the best studio chops in the business with deep-house rollers like 2013's “Thinking About You”, and helped spark EDM’s pop crossover with hits for Rihanna, Florence Welch, Ellie Goulding and others. Along the way, he became one of the 2010s’ first DJ/producer/songwriter polymaths to earn top billing even on the songs in which he didn’t sing. No stranger to pyro-lit main stages—his percussive, synth-strafed 2014 single “C.U.B.A.” is big-room house at its most gargantuan—Harris has resisted getting boxed into any one sound. On 2017’s Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, he lays down a set of slinky R&B jams for Frank Ocean, Migos and Young Thug, while the 2018 singles “Promises”, with Sam Smith, and “One Kiss”, with Dua Lipa, proved just how versatile his vision of pop can be. - Apple Music
