Out Out is a low-key bop but was never in contention for my votes. I'd rank Bruises quite high among Capaldi's discography tbh.

The worst song i've heard Tove Lo be involved with was overdoing it even making the shortlist oop.

From 1961, this is the oldest song in the semi-final. In the US, it was a number 1 single and won a Grammy award for Best Rhythm and Blues Recording. The chorus was sung by the Raelettes.

44. Tina Turner - Let's Stay Together 166pts

Writers - Al Green, Willie Mitchell, Al Jackson Jr.

Top points - AaronTM 24, mikerobe1984 22, DarrenJames 20, Dante77 20, vibe 20

Al Green's original recording of Let's Stay Together reached number 7 in 1972 so Tina Turner's cover beat it by one position. It rejuvenated her career in 1983, giving her a first top 40 hit since 'Nutbush City Limits' ten years earlier.

Just one loss for me but a big one obviously. I know Praying For Time is very highly regarded in George’s discography but it’s not one of my top faves of his. I like Ash a lot but again Oh Yeah isn’t one of my favourites.

Hit The Road Jack is a masterpiece, but I can’t really complain at that result for a 1961 song. I wonder if the 60s tunes in the 2nd semi can get any higher.

I thought Oh Yeah might have been a fair bit higher up but looks like it didn't get many votes other than those of us who ranked it very highly. In my top 3 Ash songs, though A Life Less Ordinary is probably #1.

Ooh I didn't quite clock that 'Hit The Road Jack' was the oldest song in this semi. Well, I'm glad it made it to this point at least, 'tis the next one of my votes out.
'Oh Yeah' is one of my favourite songs ever so I'm really sad to not see it do better. The chord structure in the verse still gets me every time! Ash made some absolute bangers in the 90s and early 2000s. Love that they're still going too and they still churn out the occasional gem.

This double A side single spent five weeks at number 1 in the US in 1971 and also won a Grammy award for Record Of The Year (It's Too Late). Over here, it was Carole King's first hit since 'It Might As Well Rain Until September' in 1962. Martika's cover of I Feel The Earth Move was a number 7 hit in 1989.

Top points - Liamski689 23, marcinjaro 18, Leonardo 16

From 1984, this was the sisters' third top 10 single. The instrumental was completed first with the writers being so happy with it that they jumped up and down which led to the title of the song and the lyrics. Girls Aloud took their cover version to number 2 in 2003.

39. Jem - They 184pts

Writers - Jem Griffiths, Gerard Young

Top points - King Rollo 23, Jade 22, Chez Wombat 21

From 2004, this was the Welsh singer's debut single and only top 10 hit. It samples the Swingle Singers' 1963 adaptation of Johann Sebastian Bach's Prelude in F minor. Jem now lives in America and is a screenwriter, producer, director, children's author and entrepreneur.

Aww, that's quite a big loss there, I love They </3 Love the classical music sample and existential lyrics, really quite underrated pop song that feels very epic in scope.
That Jem album was massive (and deservedly so IMO), I wonder what went wrong for her?
That's a real mixed bag between 43 and 39! Imitation Of Life the only major loss for me, though Jump is a lot of fun too.
