let's all forget Beyonce agreed on dueting on the worst ballad in the history of music!!!

It’s not often talked about, but she only really did it because he stole the melody from her song Ave Maria and instead of suing him she agreed to do the duet which was very kind of her.

Ave Maria is in the public domain.

Perfect was heavily influenced by the melody of Beyoncé’s version, which was a re-write with a different melody and lyrics. She could have very well sued him for it if she so wished.

Let's be honest at the time it was bigger for Beyonce to be on an Ed single than it was for him. He was at his all time high then and she was not where she is now or early 2000s.

That’s a very British way to look at it. Beyoncé has always been much bigger than him in America (and I’d assume in most of the world)

It's kind of a funny comment to make too when that remix probably only got released (more so) to help it hit number 1 in the US.

Now this is funny.

Let’s not re-write history now. It’s well known that Beyoncé sabotaged the performance of many of her songs during the 2010’s, with Tidal exclusives, no promotion, and so on.

It was always bigger for Ed to be on a track with Beyoncé than the other way around, and he’s said as much.

Beyonce was doing him a favour, please be for real. She just wasn't releasing at the time iirc. It enabled him to get #1 in the US and UK lmao.

He was adesperate debby for Beyonce to appear on his track. He was desperate for us no.1 and xmas no.1. He needed her to do both. The track was flopin by Cheesy Fad's cheesy hype imperial stage standatds before Beyonce. She looked down on him from aboce, smiled, and simply whispered, yes x , to give someone help. He looked like he was a struggling artist to her.

LOL + I don't get the implication that this was somehow a slump period for Beyoncé, when she was coming off the back of two huge releases with Lemonade and the self-titled in the few years prior...

LMAO we're talking about Beyonce here. She was not kind. She just found the *perfet* way to make more money.

screaming at the idea that anyone could think beyonce joining on an ed sheeran song was bigger FOR BEYONCE than ed sheeran

that is the funniest thing i've seen on here

artists barely make money from the music. she did it because she genuinly likes him. (remember stevie tribute at 2015 grammy special? lol)

anyway, Beyonce agreed to do the remix like 6 months before original single release.

also she didn't even promote the song, not even 1 social media post.

meanwhile ed used that remix for #1 push and then released Andrea Bocelli remix 2wks later. her was obsessed with chart at the time. lol

Very curious to see where J Lo's album is today...

Ya, Dua highly, highly likely won't even be top 3 by Friday :( Song itself isn't objectively 'bad' & vocally etc...more catchy than Houdini but out of ANY new song of hers there's been NO replay for TS for me. Don't care for the production. It's kind of hollow and incohesive. Like it's been out for months & don't even think about it since I listened to it a couple x. All feels so non eventful. The entire era has had one of the worst executions for a follow up album I could think of (after previously super massive era).

Still def. prefer Houdini. Wasn't instant but w/ most of her songs there's something...a vibe about them (it's when not if) it HITS. Was also the case w/ Dance The Night. Dunno how her team salvages this. STILL no album title, release date etc...Clunky ah Lol
