Vampire Weekend - Gen-X Cops [40] BJSC 162 fever has already struck my chart! Abeltesfayeton's (the country that I proudly represent) entry for this contest is the aboslute bop that is 'Crimson' by Mancunian producer, singer and above all, QUEEN Hunnygloss. The track enters right it at the top (as it should x) ironically stealing the title off of Don Toliver's 'Bandit'. ¥$'s North West (alternatively known as Miss Westie) collab 'TALKING' hits a new peak in the top 5 today alongside Declan McKenna's brilliant 'Mulholland's Dinner And Wine'. The beautiful new duet version of Noah Kahan's 'Paul Revere' with Gregory Alan Isakov also hit the top 10 for the first time today at #7! Vampire Weekend also made a comeback last week with the stunning 'Capricorn' getting a high top 10 debut in my chart, the other song they released titled 'Gen-X Corps' also makes the top 40 today! February 24, 20241 yr Hey Nate! Yes, and? Still performing admirably :cheer: Training season is decent. Very similar to Houdini in sound, maybe not quite as good though. That's a nice little climb for 16 Carraiges. Fab song! Butterfly net is fab. I do have a couple of other tracks from the album entering but spring is coming isn't one of them. Nice chart ^_^
February 24, 20241 yr Hey Nate! Nice to see "Mulholland's Dinner And Wine" and "Homesick" gain huge and the debuts for "Training Season" and "Love It If We Made It". Great chart! Take Care.
February 25, 20241 yr Author Hey Nate! Yes, and? Still performing admirably :cheer: Training season is decent. Very similar to Houdini in sound, maybe not quite as good though. Nice chart ^_^ Hi James! Only two weeks until we hear the rest of 'eternal sunshine' :cheer: 'yes, and?' actually keeps growing on me the more I listen (even with it being a former #1 for me lol). Agreed that 'Training Season' isn't as good as 'Houdini' but it does remain a bop! I would love to have some more introspective cuts like '16 CARRIAGES' on 'ACT II'. Caroline is easily one of the most consistent artists right now, she served with this deluxe! Hey Nate! Nice to see "Mulholland's Dinner And Wine" and "Homesick" gain huge and the debuts for "Training Season" and "Love It If We Made It". Great chart! Take Care. Hi Sergej! 'Mulholland's Dinner And Wine' has got to be one of my favs from Declan now, It really stands out when you listen to 'What Happened To The Beach?' imo. Every time I listen to 'Homesick', I just become even more desperate for new Sam Fender material  'Love It If We Made It' One of my all-time favs from The 1975, their concert is certainly having a lasting effect on my chart!
February 25, 20241 yr Butterfly Net, Spring Is Coming With A Strawberry In The Mouth and Silence Is Loud are all great new entries this week!
February 25, 20241 yr Hi Nate, hope your new #1 is a qualifier later! 'Capricorn' is a gorgeous comeback from Vampire Weekend - I hadn't got round to seeking out 'Gen-X Cops' before posting my chart, but have now and it's decent, though would be similarly lower for me too. Great start for Dua's second of the era, and happy to see 'mute' and 'All The Same' now another top 20 for their respective artists.
February 25, 20241 yr Hey Nate :hi: What a brilliant week for new entries! My first listen of 'Training Season' was a sleepy late night one, paired with an underwhelming music video, so I wasn't totally sure but have been hooked since listen #2 onwards  the new Vampire Weekend material is so strong, particularly the gorgeous 'Capricorn' so nice to see that debuting in your top 10 as well! Caroline Polachek's latest album was my favourite record of 2023 and the deluxe somehow strengthens it even more, 'Spring Is Coming With A Strawberry In The Mouth' is a gem <3 it's a cover but I'm not familiar with the original so it's pretty much a brand new song to me. 'Far Away' stood out a lot on the Simz EP too, very classy instrumentation. Also 'Love It If We Made It' is one of The 1975's best, great pick!
February 26, 20241 yr Author Butterfly Net, Spring Is Coming With A Strawberry In The Mouth and Silence Is Loud are all great new entries this week! Hi Jack! Caroline's latest era has been so consistent. All we need now is for her to become the next Taylor Swift  Very hyped for Nia's next album as well, 'Crowded Roomz' just missed out on my chart. Yay at it qualifing, thanks for the support :cheer: You sent a great entry this month, maybe it'll appear soon... Really hoping that these singles are an indicator of the quality of this upcoming album (I didn't realise it was out so soon - April 5th apparently). 'Capricorn' is better than 'Gen-X Corps' for me but the latter is still great! Looking forward to Dua's performance of this (+ 'Houdini' & maybe 'Dance The Night') at the Brits next Saturday! This record is really shaping up to be excellent. Shygirl must have a lot of top 20s in my chart I think ('thicc', 'tell me', '4eva' & 'mute' now) but still no top 3s. We need some more Fat Dog material as well, they're looking like a very exciting band right now! Hey Nate :hi: What a brilliant week for new entries! My first reaction to 'Training Season' was kind of the same tbh. I got decent pop song vibes on the 1st listen but the track really clicked with me on the 2nd listen. I don't particularly think that the 'Houdini' video had a huge budget but the 'Training Season' director really should've taken some tips from how good that was :D I really haven't the slightest clue why I took so long to listen to the Caroline album but I'm delighted that I did, eventually... I had no clue that 'Spring Is Coming With A Strawberry In The Mouth' was a cover. Caroline's version does have a lovely arrangement  I've seen some pretty conflicted responses online about Simz's new EP but I personally love it. The production has just been polished so well and it is always great to see an artist stylistically pushing their boundaries! That 1975 concert that I went to is having a lasting impact on me  After taking a deeper dive into their discography, I think I can now confidently say that 'A Brief inquiry Into Online Relationships' is my favourite album from them! I always love a little bit of political commentary (unless we're talking about that right-wing Ben Shapiro trash) in a song so no it's wonder to me that I adore 'Love It If We Made It'
February 27, 20241 yr Hi Nate! at Paul revere getting to the top 10! What a song! I also like how well Ariana is still doing! I like the debut for training season and the handful of 1975 tracks entering! Nice chart!
