'Cha Cha Cha' is my favourite to drop out so far! I do find it difficult to compare really recent songs to established classics, but it was such a moment at Eurovision last year and love that a Finnish-language song went top 10 in the U.K. chart.

Deeper and Deeper far too low. It’s overlooked in general though so it did pretty well to make the final

Yeah, pretty much this. It's such an under-rated song.

'Don't Let Me Get Me' deserved to be higher too, it was the first song P!nk released that really made me sit up and take notice and arguably the single that transitioned her from R&B/pop to the pop/rock sound she's now known for.

This was the debut single and only top 40 solo hit for the singer from Pennsylvania. The follow-up singles only got to 53 and 94. She had a further top 20 hit as the featured singer on 'Big Yellow Taxi' by Counting Crows.

And here's another one that was the only top 40 hit for its singer. Things went a bit differently after this in his own country of Australia with the album it was taken from, 'Whispering Jack', becoming the second biggest selling album of all time there (now in third place) and being followed by six more number 1 albums. One of the song's co-writers, Chris Thompson, sang lead vocal on 'Blinded By The Light' by Manfred Mann's Earth Band which failed to qualify for the semi-finals.

Taken from the film 'Dirty Dancing', this song did the award hat-trick of Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy. It was also a number 1 single in the US. Both singers had already reached the top of the charts there, Bill Medley as one of the Righteous Brothers and Jennifer Warnes with Joe Cocker. Among the singers to turn down the song were Donna Summer, Daryl Hall and Kim Carnes.

One of my faves (You're The Voice - doubly so since the Partridge movie!) and one of my least faves out in succession there
Did not not BM was in the righteous brothers!
I had a WTF moment when I discovered John Farnham was one of the finalists. He is the annoying voice definitely. :drama:

Yeah, sorry for Vanessa and Käärijä as I'm not participating in the final. This month has been so busy for me.

This song featured on the soundtrack to the 1994 film 'Reality Bites' after being put forward by Lisa Loeb's neighbour Ethan Hawke. It spent three weeks at number 1 in the US, making her the first artist to top the Billboard chart before being signed to any record label. It was her only UK top 40 hit.

This was the first of five top 40 singles for the singer from Ohio. In 2001, it won the Grammy award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Macy robbed! Definitely one of the very best 90s soul songs, I also loved how gradually it climbed to #6 in an era where singles rarely managed to climb the chart at all

Really like the other two today as well. Seems amazing in retrospect that Hot Chip ever managed a top 10 single.

A Thousand Miles and You're The Voice are my favourites to drop out so far, both a bit cliched/overplayed and of their time, but it works so much that they still sound like great time capsules. Time of My Life is a similarly great 80s cheesy moment.

No other massive favourites to drop, though I did rather like Ready for the Floor at the time and a rather unconventional top 10!

I love all 3 from today. 2 brilliant 90s songs and Hot Chip, which must have suffered due to Bray not voting in the final.

Absolutely this. She has one of the most unique voices in music and both this single and follow-up 'Still' are just stunning. She deserved so much more success than she ever had.

Unwritten has recently had a resurgence and is currently at number 12, having spent the last ten weeks in the top 20.

The first of two songs by Prince drops out today. From 1986, it was his fifth top 10 single and a third number 1 in his own country. Just two years later, a cover version by The Art Of Noise featuring Tom Jones peaked one place higher at number 5.
