To be fair I think every single person on here would agree with that. It's like saying "Water is wet". It's so obvious I don't see the point in even mentioning it.

Beyonce's figures are fantastic though. Definitely in the top 1% of all music artists.

But Adele's album only did a bit more than Abba and quickly fell out the charts. Beyonce will have more longevity and will probably outsell it...

It's only an album release from Beyonce, some really need to chill out, it's more heated than an Manchester derby on here.

Although I think I’ll do what I did when the Saturdays used to release a single and give the iTunes (or now streaming thread) a wide berth

Buzzjack is a crazy place when the stans come to play

I still don’t understand what’s so crazy about a discussion

Well yeah maybe Beyonce will outsell 30. We will find out after some months, we can't really know after day 1. It's off to a great start so maybe.

They aren't that fantastic when it's being lauded as this sort of second coming of a female pop Jesus. The media narrative around this album really doesn't fit the reality. You think back to Adele or Taylor Swift releases and they blocked up the top end of the chart, whilst Beyonce's tracks are in the Top 50 plenty of other songs are doing more streams than them. In a few weeks when Taylor releases we'll see what pop domination looks like.

OK well to be honest I don't read mainstream media. I haven't in years. Most of it is lies. If they're hyping her up like that then yes, it's a bit over the top. But ignoring all of that and just looking at the figures (which is what I am doing), I think they're great for Beyonce.

But yeah, I do get it. The media are completely mental and I think they get paid by record labels sometimes. I remember when Lady Gaga first came out and she was famous for like TWO MONTHS and they said in all the newspapers that she was going to be bigger than Madonna because she dressed up as Kermit the Frog. It was honestly the most fake thing I've ever seen (and there was the rumours she was a hermaphrodite which was obviously spread by her management (the same management that spread rumours than the Pussycat Dolls were strippers) and was a copy of what made Ciara a big star, but I won't go into that more). So I do understand it, but ignore what the press say, if you can. You'll be a lot happier. It's all fake. If you like Beyonce just enjoy her album, and if you don't, just ignore it. I'm done with the press, they are absolute trash and you shouldn't let them dictate your life.

love the narrative that Ed's 2 last album, don't count cos they weren't pure pop

Folklore is on the same genre as Substract and is still getting 5,000 sales from streams a week

didn't realise Hozier was as high as #2 on Amazon

new Benson is also very high on Amazon at #4

Beyonce has Jolene at #8 and Most Wanted at #13

To reiterate: only one woman has ever received more streams in one day with an album (or generally) – Taylor Swift. To pretend that Beyoncé being #2 behind arguably the biggest artist on the planet isn't fantastic is straight-up delusional.

You don't need to be a fan of someone to be able to give credit where it is due. Beyoncé has been in this industry for nearly 3 decades, for her to be achieving this at this point in her career is unbelievable. Taylor's impending "pop domination" doesn't invalidate that.

Beyoncé remains at #1 on the Daily Spotify Artists chart globally and in the UK. Hopefully, we'll be seeing some good stability.

Yes, plus 'Eyes Closed' the lead from Subtract was produced by Max Martin! It had a sad topic but that isn't a bar to commercial success - see P Diddy/George Michael/Elton John etc...

We seem to be disagreeing on what the important statistic is here. Total album streams are going to be high when you release a 27 track album, I'm more interested in the streams for the lead single and there's definitely more than one artist whose bettered Beyonce's 650k daily streams on Spotify.

Looking deeper down the top 50 most of Beyonce's tracks have been streamed around 170k times. That's far lower than Taylor Swift or Adele's album releases, yet for some reason people are trying to argue this is on par.

I honestly can’t with this thread most weeks.. Dua has done well with her recent songs, Ariana has, Beyonce has. I feel like peoples expectations are wild a lot of the time.. and it takes the enjoyment outta coming into this thread to see how the numbers are.

I think the excitement over the Beyonce numbers is fine.. it’s her most successful numbers since streaming really took off - it’s genuinely okay to hype it and celebrate it

We seem to be in an era where everything is failure these days doesn't matter who or what
Just like R Saviour, Ms Trainor is rising again *_*

Still 12 songs in top 20 :) Hope you’ve all calmed down after yesterday!

Spotify has updated. Beyonce only holding the top spot for 1 day before Benson Boone returns to the top with Beautiful Things. Real chance he stays at No 1. Every Beyonce track down position wise on yesterday.

Artemas in the top 5 is good to see though - looking like a contender for No 1 in a few weeks time.

Benson is number 1 already on Spotify. In general good hold for her album.

I really don’t see how he stays at #1 this week looking at iTunes, Apple Music, and Amazon and with only a very slight lead on Spotify. I’m sure he’ll extend his lead on Spotify throughout the week but I genuinely see Texas reclaiming the #1 this week.

So instead of looking at how the entire project performed, or Beyoncé's overall catalogue, you're specifically looking at a single song and then basing your entire judgment on that? Sounds like real sound logic there.

The project was not only 27 songs, it also lasted for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Which immediately reduces replay value. It's not like they were 27 songs at 2.5 mins, which would actually boost streams. You're arguing a totally bizarre point.
