Her last album was unreal so finally glad to see she’s back, hope she gets both R1/2 support!

oh interesting choice of sample here

the instrumental is pretty much directly lifted off Death in Vegas 'Dirge'

OH the familiarity of the instrumental was bugging me and that'll be why, discovered 'Dirge' from Julian's 2000 top 40 hits thread last year so I know it, but not super well.

I like this anyway! 'Strange' was the song of hers that made me sit up and take notice and this is probably the one I've enjoyed the most since then.

‘Strange’ was the first for me, think I listened to the full album too and enjoyed it, but it was the John Lewis song ‘A Little Love’ that really stopped me in the moment. She performed it on The One Show just after the show paid tribute to Barbara Windsor who had died the night before and they showed some images of her as she performed, and I just thought the song summed up Barbara’s life so well. I’m a massive EastEnders fan as it is and a fan of Barbara Windsor as a person and how much she loved her audience and appreciated her fame. The song still makes me emotional four years on.

Oh wow I'll have to give that a watch! I drifted away from EE at some point in 2015 but have got back into it since 2022 and Barbara was such a force in it when I watched as a kid/teen.

I listened to Celeste's album too and even bought it on vinyl but the initial physical release was so weird, it only included half of the songs or something

The tone of her voice is gorgeous.

I remember the episode after was when Sharon married Ian and they dedicated the episode to Barbara! an embarrassing time to be an EastEnders fan.

Oh yeah I remember that about the different tracking lists now that you mention it!

This is the performance below. A few photos in the middle but they had done a really lovely tribute to her throughout the entire show too.

I’m still stanning her previous release from the Day of the Jackel soundtrack!
