The jury votes last night though weren’t entirely based on the song either. ‘Hurricane’ would have been giving more points by the jury if it was any other country’s entry. They needed to make sure it didn’t win last night as they knew it would do well on the televote.

It still finished 12th though  I would argue Latvia was underrated even.

Juries are made up of singers, music producers, DJ’s and the like.

The idea they’re conspiring at some political geopolitical level is totally absurd.

That must be one of the most ‘first world’ opinions I’ve seen on this. everything is a show after all…

Totally agree.

Some people can’t seem to get any sense of the reality of life, death, pain and suffering reported every day. Everything is reduced and abstracted to a childish social media trolling view of the world.

They delayed uploading Ireland's entry??

They delayed uploading Portugal's entry because iolanda's nails resemble the keffiyeh

I think Nemo is a worthy winner, I mean they risked serious injury on that lazy Susan!

Austria was my favourite one, I'm dismayed at how that did. Did the last performance slot hurt it? Also Armenia's was the worst for me but that did relatively well *shakes head*

I’m disappointed there was nothing from Abba - I mean I didn’t expect a performance or anything but the fact it was such a massive occasion to be celebrating 50 years since the win and the contest being held in their home country I thought we might have got a video message at least.

I know they linked up to the Abba Experience but that wasn’t new content and part of the standard show.

Have now caught up with everything

An amazing winner - and in my opinion the jury vote has once again ensured a better quality and longer lasting song wins over a gimmick.

The UK vote was ridiculous - I do think it’s partly political as in now way should Olly have received 0 points from the public. Also gutted that Austria were so low

I actually think too many countries tried to copy the Finland formula this year, which cancelled out some of the vote and meant Switzerland could get a decent enough public vote to snatch the win (makes up for Gjons Tears as well!)

I was wondering this myself.

It makes zero sense.

You can't as an institution, decide to make a stance and then simply decide not to make the same stance and not have serious questions asked.

Yeah, this all felt a bit odd as if something was missing, like they planned for some big cameo moment (even just one or two of them) and it all fell through late on causing them to frantically rewrite based on what they had. I don’t feel like the ABBA Voyage material did much to help the London show, as they were shown so close up it was very obviously CGI rather than the clever effect on stage of them actually looking like they are in front of you - not that the show really needs help as it sells so well.

In an ideal world Bjorn and Benny show up and do a fun routine with Petra and Malin, only to be interrupted by Agnetha and Anni-Frid to get a nice moment with them all on the Eurovision stage together again, but I suppose they had made it clear early on in the planning that it wasn’t happening in a million years.

I do think just a 30 second video message from Benny or Bjorn would have been so easy for them to do and would have been really well received. Much as I love ABBA I can imagine them being quite stubborn though - maybe it was assumed they would change their minds about doing absolutely nothing nearer the time and they didn’t.
Finland would have walked ro victory this year ... if not for Kaarja's huuge ego. He was obsessed with beating Loree , instead of waiting a year to release and go on Eurovision then.
