What do they really think they're gonna achieve with a delay? It's not like he's gonna get hits at this stage.

(Unless they've bagged a superstar collab or something)

Agreed, surely it messes up all the promo they have planned for the original release week as well?

I'm still baffled and disappointed that 'Why Why Why' didn't do anything, it had that currently trendy made-for-radio sound.

Pushing it back is just going to be even more detrimental to the era. It’s clear that Shawn himself doesn’t care about commercial success, but the label have clearly panicked and decided to push it back and hope for a miracle (that clearly isn’t going to happen).

He appears to be going new photoshoots going by the Insta post released with the statement, I just hope they’re not completely changing the artwork/tracklist etc :drama:

The ‘For Friends & Family Only’ concert film is out in cinemas on November 14, presumably this is why the album was delayed?

Still doesn’t make any sense really. They’d have known for long enough if that’s what they planned to do. The whole thing just reeks of the label not wanting to go up against so much competition on the week of the 18th and scrambling to try and find another reason to mask it with. Shawn really needs to find a new team; regardless of whether he cares about success or not it’s clear his team aren’t suited to working wonders for him.

Seems that there isn't anything major out in AUS/NZ at least so I don't think competition was the reason.. Agree about the need to find a new team though.

I think that’s why it didn’t do anything. It was a bit too on the nose trend wise. There was a lot better pop folk sounding songs out this year it just got lost.

I’m wonder when he’s gonna start doing actual interviews because while the magazine was nice we’re gonna need more than just that and jay shetty

This album is actually divine, sonically all together it fits this season. Relaxing and strongly cohesive. Has no chance of being a commercial success but at least he's made a very strong album of actual music

Yeah this is by far his least commercial album to date and will likely do absolutely nothing but it is so gorgeous  Heavy in particular is amazing :bratcheeseblock:

Nothing to do with Noah Kahan

This is not bad and very mellow but if he wanted to go the singer-songwriter direction you need much much much more meat in the lyrics and the themes and everything, this is too vanilla. And covering Hallelujah, that's a bad idea, he doesn't have what it takes to make the song special, don't think it's a good cover, it's not bad but it doesn't have the oomph that the Jeff Buckley version has, you have to sign from the guts, meaning every word, which Shawn clearly doesn't.

I do have to agree on the Hallelujah cover, oops. :( I don’t think it’s that he doesn’t mean what he’s singing, I think they’ve just tried to make it really understated, but when you have him really delivering the vocals on songs like Why Why Why, Heart of Gold and Heavy it makes me wonder why they didn’t really push with Hallelujah and make it a grand note to end the album on.

I've come to the conclusion bar Hallelujah this is in my top 3 albums this year it's absolutely stunning as a whole piece to just listen to.

Reminds me of Lorde Solar Power / Midnights Taylor it just all beautifully flows

Looks set to miss the Top 20 in the US  Predicted to be opening with 27k. His previous 4 studio albums all reached #1.

Midweek #5 in the UK on Monday, I wonder whether he's done enough to stay Top 10 by Friday

Will be interesting to see where he is in today's mids. That's quite the fall from grace in the US and really not deserved :(
