Gåte were on the verge of withdrawing at the very last moment. I wonder what the "constructive talks" were.

Although a lot of the controversies were of the EBU's own making, in a way I almost feel sorry for them as we live in a world where everything is hyper scrutinised on social media in very passionate terms, leaks are instant and there are very passionate people on all sides of an issue (including, unfortunately elements this year which weren't at all interested in the contest previously).

Whatever they do next year, they will inevitably make decisions that will upset certain people and often they have to make choices based on money and sponsorship. It will be a difficult path for them to manage - I think what sticks out is lack of consistency though, if they addressed that then it would at least be clear, even if it upsets some people. But they're probably too constrained to do that, a bit like the BBC nowadays. It's just really sad. :(

Israel has had the tightest grip on EBU since they hosted in 2019 - they were the ones to pay shitload of money to have Madonna, the current main sponsor is an Israeli company... EBU (especially the big 5) needs to be very firm, find a new sponsor etc.

Israel with their fingers in all the pies.

The picture becomes clearer still.

'some delegations' 'reflecting the spirit of the rules'

cowardly language and I'm almost suspecting they're talking about the contestants putting pro-Palestinian easter eggs in their performances and talking about peace rather than the actual bad actors there.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

‘some delegations’. There’s only one.

Israel can disrespect the “spirit of the rules”, whatever the f*** that means, but everyone else just breaks them and gets disqualified.

Urgh, that'll be it

god they’re really gonna disqualify portugal and not israel next year aren’t they.

If they disqualified another country from next years and not Israel it would make the biggest mockery of it possible.

On site and in performances. They're definitely talking about the tiktok videos mentioning ceasefires etc, or the Italian woman with thd flag, and on and on

They'll censor all the other delegstions and not Isrsel basically

I have a feeling that if Israel is allowed to return next year, we will not have the Eurovision Song Contest in 2025. I can see at least 5-10 broadcasting companies withdraw which would be enough to encourage others to follow.
The real tea

This crossed my mind too. Strange the support didn’t translate from votes to streams/sales.

I can see several countries refusing to participate if there is not proper action taken for next year. I'd respect the UK if we refused to fund it, but of course Sunak or Starmer would never.

Hmm Starmer might... He is calling for a ceasfire too. His slow speed with calling for one has damaged Labour's Muslim voteshare too, soo seems like something he would do to repair the link
