Girls Aloud didn't write much of their music but they were still an integral part of Xenomania's writing and production process, and of course they put their own stamp on the music through their vocal delivery, performances and visuals - Girls Aloud was always a complete package from all five members! For me personally, their names being listed in the writing credits wouldn't change a single thing, because their music was never faceless and it was geared specifically towards the five of them.

A perfect winner - I find it impossible to separate S Club and Girls Aloud, and S Club's tour was fresh in my mind when I voted (I sent my votes JUST before my first time seeing Girls Aloud's latest tour...!!!) so I gave them the edge. They're the two most defining acts of my life though - the first two artists I ever liked! My entire taste stems from their music, and both groups created so many memories for me. Girls Aloud's music is unique, and their chemistry (no pun intended) was perfect, which is a pretty damn impressive thing when they were put together by a public vote. They shed the talent show tag with ease, and I think it'll be impossible to recreate the magic they had.

Great countdown and great winner, excellent thread, thank you for all your hard work and i will miss the thread now that the countdown is complete

Girls Aloud have some great songs and are a buzzjack fav and their comeback last year certainly would have helped

them!

Not to bothered with the result. Girls Aloud do have some great songs though, as do the Spice Girls.

I know they aren’t BJs biggest fans but did Westlife really not score a single point?

(Unless I’m just totally blind and overlooked them!)

Girls Aloud and Spice Girls are my Top 2 groups! Going into this activity, I didn't imagine that they'd actually end up being the Top 2 acts in these results. It's great to see that there's still a lot of appreciation for them both! I'll keep this post short, and simply say that Girls Aloud and Spice Girls music always brings me joy.

The biggest snubs from BBC's list according to BuzzJack would be the following artists, all of them making the BuzzJack Top 40:

Little Mix

Steps

The Saturdays

S Club

Atomic Kitten

Snow Patrol

I prefer the Radio 2 panel’s choices to Buzzjack’s

They're basically the same barring a few ommissions.

Edited by ElectroBoy

It will be The Beatles/Queen/ABBA top three on a Radio 2 vote presumably, unless the Oasis reunion has pushed them into the mix, or Coldplay can make it in.

Steps at least deserved an inclusion here, for their success over four separate decades and the pop classics they have contributed. But they always get overlooked in these kinds of lists compiled by broadcasters or newspapers/magazines etc.

Love seeing Erasure in the radio 2 list, they are often snubbed for anything like this.

On the whole I think the list is pretty well balanced across eras and types of music. Imagination jump out at me as being the ones I know very little about - unless I'm missing something I can't see why they would be included over some of the more successful acts. I'm not sure I'd put Wings in there either.

Imagination really is a strange inclusion. They were really only popular for a few years and not even that big. 3 top ten hits and two top 20 albums is all of note.

If it was a public vote I suspect Leee John was very busy that week.
