July 12, 20241 yr Author  Future chart hit? Katy Perry Woman's World 1st single from 143 Released: 12th July 2024 Label: Capitol Records Video EVIJUH29pjU Biography She’s the dream girl. The free spirit. The candy-coated pin-up and the well of inner strength. She’s a little Disney, a little Betty Boop. But she’s also an avatar for the modern female pop star in a post-Madonna world—the liberated woman who kicks open doors without knocking. Under all the sparkle and glitter, you could sense an artist grappling with messy human contradictions—about sexuality, about self-love, about asserting femininity in a man’s world. Talking to Apple Music in 2019, Katy Perry said she leads with her gut and lets her mind follow, and doesn’t make much sense of any of it until the work is done. “The themes are joy,” she said. “They are empowerment. They are trying to expand the boundaries of what I think, and trying to learn from all this opportunity.” She might actually be a superhero. But she also might just be what she is: a girl from Southern California who worked like crazy and didn’t flinch. Born in 1984 to Pentecostal pastors in Santa Barbara, Perry (originally Katy Hudson) grew up on gospel music, putting out her first album, 2001’s Katy Hudson, on a Christian label. At some point during adolescence, she discovered Queen, a band whose mix of flamboyance, power and sexualised wit cracked her creative world open. (Perry named her fragrance Killer Queen, after one of the band’s signature songs.) Club tracks, ballads, classic pop-rock and contemporary electronic music—Perry’s production collaborators are brilliant (Dr. Luke, Max Martin, benny blanco), but it's her songwriting, her image, her balance of playfulness and confidence that pull the package together. And for every “Teenage Dream” or “I Kissed a Girl”, there's a “Firework” or a “Roar”, music that turns expressions of vulnerability into anthems of inclusion and self-renewal—a dynamic that has made Perry an inspirational figure not only to young women, but for an LGBTQ community she vocally supports. Perry doesn’t quite know how she went so platinum—2010’s Teenage Dream reached commercial heights previously set only by Michael Jackson—but while the numbers are nice, the work is what's important. “It’s up to me to make the right choice in my mind to keep putting one foot in front of the other and going forward,” Perry told Apple Music. “Not going backwards—I could easily go backwards by literally looking at a photo. But I have to go forward, because I know what’s good for me now.” - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2008 01 I Kissed A Girl -1- MILLIONAIRE 2008 04 Hot N Cold -2- MILLIONAIRE 2009 27 Thinking Of You -3- 2009 19 Waking Up In Vegas -4- 2009 03 Starstrukk (3OH!3 feat. July 12, 20241 yr Author  Future chart hit? Kylie Minogue with Bebe Rexha and Tove Lo My Oh My 4th single from Tension Released: 11th July 2024 Label: Kylie Minogue / Darenote Video Kr-khErZr_Q Biography Australia’s biggest pop icon is a master of shape-shifting, with a silvery voice that adapts to spunky novelty dance tracks as well as sleek synth-pop and a theatrical bent that turns her live shows into spectacles. Born in Melbourne in 1968, Kylie Minogue got her start in acting, debuting on the soap opera Neighbours in her teen years and almost immediately becoming one of the nation’s most beloved television actors. A benefit performance led to the release of her first single, a cover of Little Eva’s “The Loco-Motion,” in 1987; it became a hit in Australia, and her 1988 re-recording of it, helmed by the superproducer team Stock Aitken Waterman, was a worldwide smash. The new version was included on her 1988 debut, Kylie, a collection of frothy pop highlighted by the sparkling “I Should Be So Lucky.” Minogue continued her relationship with SAW until the 1993 release of Kylie Minogue, which was recorded with club-oriented producers including M People and Brothers In Rhythm. Her aesthetic matured during the ’90s, both in her solo work and on the Nick Cave duet “Where the Wild Roses Grow.” In 2001, the slick “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” blew up in clubs and on the radio, and its accompanying album, Fever, featuring the buoyant “Love At First Sight” and the sinuous “Come Into My World,” re-established Minogue as a pop force. She later worked with pop gurus like Stuart Price and Greg Kurstin on tracks such as the sumptuous “All the Lovers” and the peppy “Wow,” flirted with country and disco, indulged her art-house side in films like Holy Motors, and embarked on ambitious tours that showcased her flair for the dramatic—and her long-honed ability to captivate audiences. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Kylie Minogue 1988 01 I Should Be So Lucky -1- 1988 02 Got To Be Certain -2- 1988 02 The Loco-Motion -3- 1988 02 Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi -4- 1988 01 Especially For You (Kylie Minogue & Jason Donovan) MILLION SELLER 1989 01 Hand On Your Heart -1- 1989 02 Wouldn't Change A Thing -2- 1989 04 Never Too Late -3- 1990 01 Tears On My Pillow -4- 1990 02 Better The Devil You Know -1- 1990 04 Step Back In Time -2- 1991 06 What Do I Have To Do? -3- 1991 06 Shocked -4- 1991 16 Word Is Out -1- 1991 04 If You Were With Me Now (Kylie Minogue & Keith Washington) -2- 1991 49 Keep On Pumpin' It (Visionmasters feat. July 12, 20241 yr seeing some of these never-ending chart runs has made me realise just how stagnant the chart is at the moment  I feel like it's been going this way for a while, and though it produces the odd fun stat, it seems to show that ACR isn't working to do what it was originally set out for, as songs' streams are flattening out to the point that small fluctuations week-on-week are almost inevitable over any 3-week cycle meaning they keep avoiding ACR even if in a very slow decline over the course of months.
July 12, 20241 yr New peaks and new entries outside the top 40: 46. Adam Port & Stryv ft. Malachiii - Move (+15) 47. Dominic Fike - Misses (+3) 56.
