what a shame Free looks to be such a momentous flop for Calvin

but I do think he needs to start working with newer artists again - all his recent singles have been with people he’s already worked with if you ignore the secondary credit on that Eliza Rose song which was never going to be a big hit either

if only Miley’s label hadn’t blocked the release of that Ocean song I’m sure that would’ve done a fair amount better

Yeah funnily enough I remember this - we got the video about 2/3 weeks after it was sent to radio in the US even though there were clips of the video in the montage she posted the day Midnights was released months prior

I remember seeing the release date of the video was for a petty reason not sure how true that was

Forever Young returning at #188, what a relief.

Ew at Gordo also debuting. His bad behaviour in the DJing scene, both as (formerly) Carnage and Gordo couldn't be fixed at all. <_<

I had a feeling this might happen to Free, it's a nice enough dance track but doesn't really offer anything particularly original and both artists involved seem to need to be at the very top of their game to get hits these days.

Miracle captured lightning in a bottle and I think satisfied the appetite for a mini trance revival of sorts that had been there for the taking for years. It's an outstanding track in my opinion, even if it is overplayed now.

there doesn't seem to be any younger DJs who can get "moderate hits by default" these days anymore either, there used to be a few who'd reliably get hit after hit but now:

- the new Jax Jones & Joel Corry collab did absolutely nothing

- Sigala's comeback single did absolutely nothing

- Clean Bandit haven't put a (proper) single out for ages and their comeback is tagging Guetta as a feature to try and get some hype, who knows if that'll work

instead we've got just random faceless DJs lucking out on hits and then never being seen again it seems (well I'd be surprised if BL3SS, Adam Port or NewEra are ever seen again - Casso we've already seen his follow up single flop - Blessed Madonna's follow-up to Happier did nothing - Sonny Fodera perhaps could luck out another major hit at some point I guess?)

the closest thing we've got to a consistent fresh hitmaker DJ now is Fred Again and he's also hit and miss depending on how commercial he chooses to be with his sound

hopefully that Gordo/Drake song doesn't actually end up doing anything beyond first week curiosity Drake fans (what remain of them after Kendrick's lyrical murder) streaming, I agree with Cow that Gordo does not deserve a mainstream chart hit being one of the worst personalities in EDM

but this is also the kind of song that needs playlist support

the drop is expected if you're not on HH for this kinda song

I thought Fred Again would be a sorta successor of Calvin Harris and for like 5 minutes he was charting high and effortlessly

but not anymore sadly... maybe if the supposed duet with Selena Gomez gets released...

'Good Luck, Babe!' up to a new peak of #3, and 'Pink Pony Club' has overtaken 'Red Wine Supernova' to be Chappell's third highest song.

We love to see it!!

I hadn't realised Chappell now has the most songs in the top 200 with six, then thought she must have overtaken Taylor, but Taylor now only has three (one of them being 'Cruel Summer') - fewer than Charli even.

*NSYNC up to #44, will probably go higher than anything from Justin's latest album

Taylor only having 3 in the Spotify Top 200 is amazing to me - that’s blown my mind for the day. I’d have been sure “Anti-Hero”, “Down Bad”, “Who’s Afraid…”, “Lover” and maybe a few others were there.

Taylor is however still the #1 artist of the day just has a big discography, Chappell Roan is up to #5 overtaking Sabrina Carpenter which is good news though

I hadn't peeped the artist chart in a while so Drake as high as #3 still is a bit of a surprise, so much for him getting 'cancelled' I guess

Well put, Fred Again definitely is the Calvin Harris of the 2020s

A lot of Drake’s is due to features. He’s on a lot of other people’s albums so if you’re listening to anybody’s old album from future to even Camila cabello you’re giving drake’s boost in that chart. His popularity is at an all-time low. It’s undeniable.

Billie and Chappell still not out of the race for #1 this week but need to keep climbing. Sabrina def fav though

if only Billie's label did something, ideally physicals but at least a video to have some more youtube streams/sales
Yes Billie’s label managed to mobilise quickly for “What Was I Made For?” so I can’t see why they wouldn’t now. With the gap coming down naturally they should only need a few k extra.

"Mamushi" now up to #137 on Amazon - rising nicely there. Hoping it's top 100 soon. I think it must have been added to a playlist or two. Hopefully the music video will be released Friday and may start getting spotify playlist support such as TTH & HHUK. It's doing really well still on global spotify despite lack of playlist support (slight climb to #45 today and peak of #38 so far).
