Posted July 28, 2024Jul 28 Nobody been to see this then! 73_1biulkYk It's funny. It's manic. It's amusing. It's Fourth-wall breaking overdrive. Guest cameos and bloody violence, moral ambiguity, timeline jumping and great fun. Did I mention it's quiptastic and self-mocking? Dogpool and Peterpool are not to be missed, great soundtrack choice of songs, and it's the biggest grossing weekend for an adult-rated movie (or "15" in the UK). Our local multi-plex was packed out all day, no aircon, few staff, long queues on Thursday so that should have helped the dire financial state of Cineworld a bit. Hooray they aren't closing Poole's down! That was perilously close to being a Dead Poole....
July 28, 2024Jul 28 I really had a blast with this! I like the other 2 but find them a bit overrated, but this is definitely more my thing. I liked the self awareness of the MCU and I thought those jokes landed really well and effectively. I loved all the cameos, particularly Chris Evans (obvz) playing Johnny Storm and... Wesley Snipes as Blade! It's a lot of fun and the action pieces were great.
July 29, 2024Jul 29 I've just come back from this and I'm a little disappointed to be honest. I absolutely love the first two Deadpool films and this felt like a huge step down for me. I found this constantly amusing but there was nothing in this one that made me laugh out loud where there's plenty in the first two that did. I felt like a lot of the jokes fell flat in this one. Potentially it's just a case of having too high expectations, I'll have to see how it holds up on re-watches.
July 30, 2024Jul 30 Author I forgot to plug the cameo from Creole-speaking Gambit, Channing Tatum, hilarious and SO needs to picked up for the next X-Men revamp. Dumb if they don't....!
August 8, 2024Aug 8 Thought this was great to be honest. Lots of laughs, throwbacks and great new to reintroduce a few characters to the MCU. I’m not a fan of the multiverse stuff, so good to see this film kind of sewed the seeds for that storyline being tied up. It works with Deadpool and more self contained movies. Was a nice fitting send off to the FOX era too, did enjoy that mid credits scene! Unfortunately had all of the cameos spoiled for me but didn’t take too much away from the experience! Does anyone reckon there was anything in it with the Thor holding Deadpool bit? Or as it a soft play on Spider-Man/Iron Man in Avengers? Kind of shows Feige has still got it and knows how to please the crowd!
August 8, 2024Aug 8 On rewatches Channing Tatum as Gambit is fast becoming the absolute highlight of the movie. So, SO good.
August 8, 2024Aug 8 I am waiting for a subtitled screening and to be over this illness, then I am THERE! Can't wait to see it, love the first two and these two have excellent chemistry together.
August 19, 2024Aug 19 Still no captioned screening for this in my area, looks like it is being passed over f***ing sucks being deaf. 😣
August 31, 2024Aug 31 FINALLY a captioned screening of this was broadcast at a cinema (about an hour away) so I went to see this today. I loved it, really made me laugh and the amount of celebs / references throughout the film was excellent. I was really quite fancying Hugh Jackman in it too which is a new thing!?
November 19, 2024Nov 19 Finally watched this now that it is available on streaming and I was pretty underwhelmed. I remember liking the first two films, although I can't really remember much about them now if I'm honest, but this just didn't really make me laugh much and also didn't really manage to hold my attention - I felt like there wasn't really much of a plot going on and having a lot of it set in the same backdrop as Loki just made me remember how much more I enjoyed watching Loki. I wouldn't say it was terrible or anything but it was just very mid for me.
