The Gaga song is bad and not at all what her fans want, it’s no surprise first day numbers are underwhelming.

I wanted to love it but not feeling it so far - maybe it’ll be a grower with more plays.

I guess it's not what the majority of Gaga fans want, it's 100% a Bruno Mars trademark retro song

and looks like he doesn't have many fans left himself anymore judging by the low streams

I rather have this Gaga collaboration as I'm not a huge fan of most of her dancepop / hyperpop music. But yeah, it's time for Gaga (prod. RedOne) to return!
Out of curiosity what were people expecting to see with Gaga/Bruno? There's a lot of disappointment here. Like were you expecting Top 10 or? I don't think there was enough build up or hype for it to land that high

I was expecting straight at #1 a priori

obviously not after seeing how it was doing on Apple

a collab between 2 of the biggest names in pop music

both absent for quite a while

and just the return of Gaga alone should guarantee that

the buzz was there, just look at popjustice

Lady GaGa hasn’t been one of the biggest names In pop music for a decade now.

She’s had two hits in the past 10 years; both aren’t even solo hits and have relied on either a bigger current superstar who had had a trial of number 1 hits in the past year (Ariana) or a movie. She just doesn’t have the fans anymore, jt died from all of her albums after Born to die.

It’d be like expecting Jess Glynnes return to smash.

Yeh I’m the same!

wow, not even TOP 20 for Gaga/Bruno, really underwhelming numbers here, after all the absent years from both artists.

I'm sorry but this is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. To think jess glynne of all people who never ever had a fanbase of any sort is compared to Lady Gaga who has one of the biggest and maintained fanbases? She clearly has the fans but the fans are divided into different stages of her career.

Surely wouldn't the absent years hurt them though? Part of the reason Chase & Status debuted at #1 I think is because they had a load of hits last year.

This! Same with ‘Sprinter’ being so huge the year after Dave’s last album!

Think this thread could go downhill from here lol

I think we should allow debate on it. Doesn’t mean the thread will go downhill, it might even be more interesting than usual if we allow it to progress.

Both Gaga and Bruno have reached a point where they don’t need the hits anymore. They’ve been there, they’ve done that, both can just focus on what they want to do. Gaga in particular is so versatile that whatever she does will have its fans. Not everyone that bops along to The Fame will have been that into A Star Is Born yet both were hugely successful. Her only career misstep IMO was Artpop because she became awfully pretentious and the music didn’t really follow her in that direction.

I think this is a decent song but it won’t blow the charts away-it may be a middling long running hit but these two don’t need the huge no.1s so it doesn’t really matter.

Absolutely and whereas I prefer Joanne, BTW and ASIB to the others everyone is different. I think the debut is still quite low the names alone, but it's not a song that's going to shatter records and it's not be pre typed. Worldwide it done quite well just in the UK it looks quite week which is a shock. I think it might be a grower in the week but it's nice to have new music from her but personally it's not what I wanted either. I think the whole thing has been damaged by the core fanbase hearing clips of out there Gaga and being teased 3 months ago but getting a ballad which caters for the ASIB fanbase.

Anyway point is can't believe she got compared to jess glynne

The comparison with Jess Glynne is so off its not even funny... Jess Glynne's last proper hit was in 2018 and her last 6/7 singles all have flopped. It's like the anti-Rain on me situation. You really have to come from a place of Gaga-hate to make this comparison. And I don't even like Gaga's music...

The Jess Glynne comparison was probably due to many poster’s obsessing over her recent lack of success and wanting to shoe horn it into everything.

Gaga and Bruno are clearly not comparable to her in any way really. In fact, I’m not sure which artists you’d even begin to suggest they’re comparable to.
