Also that’s a very fair top 5 there. I love that all tracks are from different eras, really demonstrates how consistent they were as a singles act

Gezza I have just realised you didn’t give any points to Chorus! Explain yourself post haste!

I don't NOT like it- I was just never bowled over by it

Stop! Has real SAW vibes for me, guess it was late 89 as that sound was having its last hurrah!
Yeah I agree with that, it does sound very '89 SAW, probably explains why I love it so much

I'd rate the top 5 in this order:

5 Sometimes

4 A Little Respect

3 Always

2 Blue Savannnah

1 Love To Hate You

I actually like both top tracks equally and I can't remember which way round I had them in my votes but L2HU FTW!

I have no idea how the voting will actually go but I'll predict:

5 Blue Savannah

4 Always

3 Love To Hate You

2 Sometimes

1 A Little Respect

We’ll never know for sure if the three year break in albums (or indeed the almost 2 year break in new singles) was the turning point for Erasure, but it certainly seemed we had missed them when this debuted in the top 5 on release in 1994. It became their third (and final) US top 20 hit. All but 1 of us put this in our top 10's.

I loved Always

I got my hopes up at the time that it may be a #1 for them so was a little bit disappointed when it 'only' made #4, especially as there was a local chart show on the radio at the time that had it predicted as being #1. I still think it's one of their best singles, a very simple track but it really has become one of their signature songs over time. I loved the mournful vocal intro

Obv voted for the sublime Always as my favourite (also love the Early Learning Centre aesthetic haha) but you can’t argue at all with that Top 5, can you?
I don’t have the history with Always as much as other songs. Seems I am a bit of an outlier

Owing a small debt to “I Will Survive” on that synth break. Though it didn't collect any voter's maximum points, we all placed in out top 10 except for two voters.

“Love To Hate You” is fab and gloriously camp, but it’s my least favourite of a brilliant Top 5. I think the others remaining have more originality.
I should have rated the 1994 singles (which I had at 23-25 points) the other way around - that would have put 'Always' 4th instead!

Love to Hate You

At the time I was absolutely obsessed with this. It made #1 in my chart for 9 weeks which was way longer than anything else had managed, and wouldn't be beaten until Robyn came along... I have 4 copies of it, bought the cassette and CD at the time and then forked out about £7 for the US import CD as it had a couple of remixes that I felt I absolutely could not live without, which was a lot of money for a single back in 1991! I've subsequently acquired the equivalent version on vinyl too.

At the time I didn't really know I Will Survive and it's only relatively recently that I've come to realise the similarities in the synth line. They played this at a beach bar on Skopelos whilst I was there over the Summer and it got a huge reaction, I was really surprised to hear it but it sounded absolutely amazing

Can't believe none of us gave L2HU maximum points :o the song is just pure pop perfection  along with another song yet to come, this is is my joint favourite Erasure song, so I could have voted them either way round really.

I quite love the lyric "I like to read a murder mystery, I like to know the killer isn't me"

Yep, that's one of many great lyrics in the song!
