Posted September 1, 2024Sep 1 Welcome to Buzzjack's Ultimate TV Show! It's time to find out what TV shows Buzzjack considers the crème de la crème, and which one of them will take the title. We've had Ultimate Artist, Ultimate Album, Ultimate Song, so now we're turning from audio to visual and giving the small screen its time to shine. Will one of the soaps come out on top? What streaming platform will take or come closest to the crown? Will it be reality, sci-fi, period, sitcom, thriller, documentary, drama? You decide! Rediscover some of your favourite moments from the best TV shows you've ever watched and, if you like, tell us all about your favourite characters, episodes, series'/seasons, what makes your top television shows so special to you. To take part, simply post an ordered list (or ordered graphics if you're that way inclined) of your favourite TV shows. Feel free to add commentaries alongside your list - as little or as much as you like about the TV shows you've chosen. Let everybody know why they too should also be voting for those shows, or remind them if it's slipped their mind! Who knows, we all may end up finding brilliant recommendations among everybody's lists? You may vote for a minimum of 10 TV shows, and a maximum of 50 TV shows. For any TV shows with international editions (e.g. a show has an edition in the UK, US, Canada, etc.) please specify which edition you are voting for as each will be separated. Have a good think about your all-time favourite TV shows and post your lists - the deadline is 15 September 2024, 23:59. You can edit your votes at any time if you decide to include a TV show you'd forgotten about, but please let us know in the thread if you do so. Results will commence shortly after when votes have been counted.
September 1, 2024Sep 1 Ooh this looks good, will have to have a think! I know my top 5 but need to think about the remaining 5.
September 2, 2024Sep 2 Oooh this is exciting! I think my list might end up being baised to shows I've seen more recently (like, within the past 5-10 years). Having said that I'll try my best to stretch my brain back further and try and remember shows I liked a considerably longer time ago (but can't really remember in great detail anymore :drama: )
September 3, 2024Sep 3 I'm getting a list together... although currently stands at 59 shows with probably more to be added and then edited out :D
September 4, 2024Sep 4 I'll try to add my own version of this, but yeah it'll be lacking of UK shows. Are animated shows ineligible for this edition?
September 4, 2024Sep 4 I'll try to add my own version of this, but yeah it'll be lacking of UK shows.same but for very *bald eagle screeching* reasons

September 6, 2024Sep 6 I'll put a vote together next week. Should classic Doctor Who (1963-1989) be treated as a separate programme to the 2005 reboot or should we vote for them as one show?
September 6, 2024Sep 6 Author I'll put a vote together next week. Should classic Doctor Who (1963-1989) be treated as a separate programme to the 2005 reboot or should we vote for them as one show? Doctor Who is one show, so would only be including it as a whole in results. Are reality tv shows included also? Yes, you can vote for any TV show.
September 6, 2024Sep 6 Are we heading straight to voting 50-1, or nominating them first to find out the most nominated shows?
September 6, 2024Sep 6 Are we heading straight to voting 50-1, or nominating them first to find out the most nominated shows? Going by the first post it’s just vote for your favourite shows up to 50, minimum of 10

September 9, 2024Sep 9 Really hard to do and I feel like i've left loads of things out too :D 01 = Doctor Who – has to take the top spot. Obsessed since 1990 when I was 5, collected the videos, dvds, blu ray and most of the other output too. Peak TV and whilst some eras aren’t for me, it’s a show which has everything. 02 = Taskmaster (UK) – A show I’ve grown to be obsessed with and even helping me to like some comedians who I’d usually pass over. Funny, interesting and just highly watchable/ entertaining. 03 = Gavin and Stacey – has to be this high, so many rewatches and its still funny. Going to be interesting to see the finale. 04 = Heartstopper – feel like I’ve done Series 1 and 2 to death and the comics, hyped for Series 3 05 = EastEnders – Iconic and the best soap by quite some way. 06 = Race Across the World – I think the show is kind of perfect; some of the teams can be very questionable, but such a good series. 07 = Big Brother (UK) – shading CBB, Series 2-7 (barring 4) were peak Big Brother and whilst I was still obsessed in the latter/ channel 5 era, it did lose its way a bit. Still excellent tv though. 08 = Celebrity Big Brother (UK) – Some amazing iconic series and regardless I’m usually obsessed. 09 = I'm Alan Partridge – 2 perfect series’. 10 = The Inbetweeners (UK) – Puerile, but so watchable and funny. 11 = The Traitors (UK) – The franchise had to be here in some form… I think maybe this should be higher, but seeing as its current and there are 2 series I think 11th is a good ranking… will probably end up being top 10. 12 = The Office (US) – Infinitely better than the UK series. 13 = Masterchef Australia – I think a few years ago I’d have had this top 10, but whilst I still enjoy it, it peaked for me a fair few years ago. Best version of MC though. 14 = Breaking Bad – this kind of feels low, but I think the shows above it have either had more impact with me, or I’ve rewatched them so much. Breaking Bad is fantastic though. 15 = Survivors (1975-77 version) – Watched this in the 90’s and have subsequently rewatched it several times – most recently during the pandemic (bad taste I know). But grim, hard-hitting and an excellent series… series 3 is a little meh though. 16 = Slow Horses – binged the first 3 series across 3 days; great series and the 4th one has started brilliantly too. 17 = Game of Thrones – epically brilliant… apart from the last series. 18 = Neighbours – don’t watch so much now, but 90’s/ 00’s I was a massive fan of the show. I need to get back into it and catch up on Amazon. 19 = Father Ted – 3 perfect series’ and a perfect Christmas special too. 20 = The League of Gentlemen – Rewatched this so many times, so quotable too. 21 = Its a Sin – Great series, amazing impact and again goes from funny to upsetting in the space of a scene. 22 = After Life – Think this is near perfect ranging from laugh out loud funny to sad and upsetting. 23 = The Mighty Boosh – Very of its time and summed up the mid 00’s – rewatched these so many times. 24 = Ru Paul's Drag Race – I feel a bit like I’m Drag Raced out at the moment, but impact wise it needed to be here and I remember when I discovered it watching Series 1-8 in the space of a few weeks. Still good, just a lot of franchises now. 25 = Star Trek: Deep Space 9 – Star Trek needed to be included in some form and DS9 is my favourite of the main series’. 26 = South Park – like Family Guy, obsessed back in the day. 27 = Modern Family – binged this when it was on, again maybe went on for too long but so many great moments/ characters. 28 = Family Guy – obsessed back in the day and still highly watchable. 29 = Beautiful People – rewatched this so many times, highly camp, highly brilliant 30 = Blake’s 7 – Another Terry Nation cult series anyone? 31 = Red Dwarf - obviously went on for too long, but series 1-6 are perfect. 32 = Peep Show – great tv, series 4 remains my favourite. 33 = The Royle Family – peak tv at the time and still holds up. Maybe 1 too many specials though 34 = Big Boys – the first series was perfect, the second was good… hopefully the third is too. 35 = Jam and Jerusalem – very twee, but it’s a good watch 36 = The IT Crowd – started rewatching this the other month and forgot how good it was. 37 = The X Factor (UK) – kind of have to give this a nod as back in Series 1-10 (ish) I was obsessed with it. Obviously its legacy is a bit poor, but it was must-see tv. 38 = The Great British Bake Off – harmless fun 39 = The Apprentice (UK) – It is good, but its fair from its best now. 40 = The Avengers - a cult classic which I got into when I was young 41 = Brookside - fantastic at times, awful at others but a great soap and needed to have a nod. 42 = Waking the Dead – used to love this when it was on TV 43 = Breeders - great series, shame it ended after 4 series. 44 = The Last of Us - might deserve to be higher, but as its still on going and only had 1 series didn't want to get too carried away. 45 = Years and Years - RTD at his best, scarily accurate at times 46 = The Sopranos – maybe should be higher, but I was thinking of shows I’ve watched/ rewatched or was obsessed with back in the day. 47 = Absolutely Fabulous – Iconic 48 = Psychoville - great series, interesting characters; Shearsmith and Pemberton at their best 49 = Byker Grove - mainly getting a nod to represent watching CBBC on BBC1 after School every day, something needed to get a mention so was a toss-up between this Grange Hill or Maid Marian and Her Merry Men. 50 = Button Moon - also mainly here as I wanted something from my childhood to get a nod and loved this when I was super young Edited September 9, 2024Sep 9 by ElectroBoy
