Excuse me for 'trolling' and 'being disconnected' :kink:

1 SASUKE (Ninja Warrior) [Favorite contestants: Makoto Nagano, Yusuke Morimoto] -> Been a huge fan of this show since I was a kid.

2 Naruto: Shippuden [Favorite characters: Naruto Uzumaki, Gaara, Itachi Uchiha, Neji Hyuga, Minato Namikaze] -> My first love in the anime scene, though the series ended 7 years ago and had toxic fanbases

3 Boruto: Naruto Next Generations [Favorite characters: Boruto Uzumaki, Naruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha, Hanabi Hyuga] -> My biggest guilty pleasure in the anime scene. It's considered as a vandal to the Naruto story, though I believe Naruto had been messed up since Masashi Kishimoto changed the last villain before the Naruto-Sasuke final battle. We would not be having Boruto anime anymore until 2027.

4 MasterChef (Australia) [Favorite contestants: Reynold Poernomo] -> Best version of MasterChef, as ElectroBoy said. Less drama, more knowledge, more interactions, and more constructive criticisms.

5 Waktu Indonesia Bercanda -> It's a parody of several quiz formats (like crosswords, Family Feud surveys, and musical quizzes) where all the answers were just nonsense---its crossword's answers often violated the crossword rules such as keeping one box blank, not obeying the Indonesian dictionary, or just putting random words in it. The show has already finished airing couple of years ago. I think a UK adaptation would be interesting to watch.

6 Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation [Favorite characters: Eris Boreas Greyrat, Shizuka Nanahoshi] -> It's the anime that made me start being an actual weeb today. It already reached Season 3 with 70+ episodes and the storywriting, animations, and visuals remain top-tier.

7 Oshi no Ko [Favorite characters: Aquamarine Hoshino, Ai Hoshino, Akane Kurokawa] -> The anime where the story peaked at the 90-minute first episode of Season 1. It had a second season already but the quality remains the same.

8 BoBoiBoy [Favorite characters: Earth BoBoiBoy, Fang] -> Best Malaysian animated series that has ever been made. I really enjoyed the original series both as a kid back then and as a teenager today---not saying its sequel BoBoiBoy Galaxy is bad though, I just prefer watching YouTube contents and anime series more nowadays.

9 Takeshi's Castle -> Another classic Japanese show that was about beating the 'villain', Takeshi Kitano. I don't think there's a UK version of it, just some re-hosts of the original show.

10 The Amazing Race Asia [Favorite contestants: Marsio & Mardy, Ethan & Khairie, Natasha & Hussein, Treasuri & Louisa] -> This simply beats the original US version of the show as I enjoyed seeing tasks in Asian countries more than in Europe and North America. The series hasn't been continued due to its low budget and lacking of sponsors.

11 Frieren: Beyond Journey's End [Favorite characters: Frieren, Himmel, Ubel] -> new adventure anime that becomes the new number one in MyAnimeList. Really great story with memorable moments and convos. Hoping this would be the return of peak Madhouse animations.

12 Mancing Mania -> Indonesian programme about people who enjoy fishing in the middle of the sea. It also gives educations about fishes and sea creatures. Eluveitie - Memento is iconic to this programme.

13 Breakout NET [Favorite presenters: Boy William, Sheila Dara Aisha] -> Indonesian music show that showcased both popular and underrated music. Though it looked like a mediocre MTV countdown show, both Boy William and Sheila Dara Aisha have unique personality that made me enjoying the show more.

14 D'Academy [Favorite contestants: Reza Zakarya, Evi Masamba, Fildan Rahayu] -> I love this Indonesian music competition, probably more than our Pop Idol and X Factor. The competition focused in one particular genre, which is Dangdut (tl;dr: try to re-listen Beaverdonia's Siti Badriah entry)

15 The Amazing Race [Favorite contestants: Rachel & Dave, Dave & Connor, Leo & Jamal, Margie & Luke] -> Best actual popular reality show imo. I stopped watching after the 2nd All-Star Edition though, mainly because my family discontinued subscribing to the Asian satellite TV. So, no Animax for me either during my peak weeb era. :(

16 Phineas & Ferb [Favorite episodes: At Last, Doof Dynasty, The Baljeatles, Tri-Stone Area, The Chronicles of Meap] -> Best American cartoon series I've watched. Love the creativity of what the twins created. Not to mention Dan Povenmire also tries to keep the longevity of Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Perry The Platypus on TikTok.

17 American Ninja Warrior [Favorite contestants: Daniel Gil, Brian Arnold, Joe Moravsky, Jessie Graff] -> A great spin-off to the original, though the obstacles nowadays are relying on contestants' strength more than their agility

18 Mashle: Magic and Muscles [Favorite characters: Mash Burndead] -> A great comedy & action anime with lots of interesting gag humors. It is quite a parody of Harry Potter.

19 Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba [Favorite characters: Shinobu Kochou, Gyomei Hiimejima] -> Best 'overrated' anime I've ever watched so far. Ufotable is just flexing their budget with their animations & visuals here.

20 The Devil is a Part-Timer [Favorite characters: Emi Yusa] -> My second anime franchise I've decided to follow. Although the Season 2 is quite a downgrade, I do still enjoy the story so far. Hopefully, we don't need another 10 years for the third season to come out.

21 Olimpiade Indonesia Cerdas -> An Indonesian quiz show that focuses on school knowledge. It's a fun series and really educating.

22 Jejak Petualang -> An Indonesian documentary show about natural phenomenon, cultures, and local wisdom.

23 Indonesian Idol [Favorite contestants: Ahmad Abdul, Lyodra Ginting, Nowela Mikhelia, Salma Salsabil] -> I don't really know both Pop Idol & American Idol and other western singing contests, but Indonesian Idol gives a lot of great talent, though most of the popular contestants nowadays don't write their own songs.

24 University War / Elite League -> The new South Korean quiz show that mostly focuses on numerical questions. Great to see this getting recognition in Indonesia.

25 Ruangguru Clash of Champions -> Quite similar to the new South Korean programme, but it's giving us 'comeback' of an actual good local TV show.

26 MasterChef (US) [Favorite contestants: Luca Manfe, Nick DiGiovanni, Christine Ha] -> The U.S. edition has the drama more than the knowledge, but it still delivered some great moments and great contestants.

27 Mr. Bean [Favorite episodes: Merry Christmas, Mr. Bean, Do-It-Yourself Mr. Bean] -> An absolute classic. I just love it. I still remember my mother prohibited me to watch this lol.

28 The 100 Girlfriends Who Really Really Really Really Really Love You [Favorite characters: Nano Eiai, Karane Inda] -> Peak romcom anime where the boy is destined to have 100 girlfriends. Only five has been portrayed so far.

29 Heart Series 2 [Favorite characters: Rachel Amandita] -> A cheesy, but funny Indonesian teenager drama. The heroine here lost and died in the middle of the story. It's not quite a sequel to the original series, so I add the "2".

30 The Remix [Favorite contestants: Soundwave] -> An Indonesian EDM-related song contest that was inspired by a Vietnamese programme. It focused on participants' skills in singing (for vocalists), mixing and producing (for DJs/producers).

FIIEu0F.jpg

31 Your Lie in April [Favorite characters: Kaori Miyazono] -> Musical romance anime for beginners. Its first opening theme, "Goose house - Hikaru Nara" was sent to Japan vs. South Korea spin-off.

32 I Can See Your Voice -> Original South Korean TV show where the judges must guess which participant can sing.

33 Attack On Titan [Favorite characters: Mikasa Ackerman, Levi] -> Only watched the first season so far, but it's already been that good. Hope I don't join the "disappointed gang" for the fourth season.

34 Idola Cilik [Favorite contestants: Agatha Chelsea] -> Similar to Pop Idol, but only kids aged 7-12 participated here and it had a theme song. I had a crush on Agatha Chelsea when I was a kid.

35 Bocchi The Rock [Favorite characters: Hitori Gotou] -> A CGDCT anime about an introverted girl joining a band with another girls. Had this had a 2nd season already, it might have got more points.

36 Captain Tsubasa [Favorite characters: Tsubasa Ozora, Kojiro Hyuga] -> A classic anime related to football. I don't particularly remember its first arc because I watched it when I was very young, but I quite remembered and enjoyed the 2002 World Cup Arc a lot.

37 Sketsa -> Indonesian version of The Sketch Show. Giving a look to some clips of the original programme and yeah, it's the same.

38 SpongeBob SquarePants [Favorite episodes: My Leg!, Band Geeks, Sentimental Sponge] -> Never watching SpongeBob in order and following new episodes, but SpongeBob had good episodes in the past. Not a fan of its face mimics either in the newer episodes too.

39 Bleach [Favorite characters: Ichigo Kurosaki, Orihime Inoue] -> Will say it might be a Top 3 shounen anime in the future once I finished this. So far, I've only watched 15 episodes.

40 Mr. Bean: Animated Series [Favorite episodes: Keyboard Capers, A Running Battle, Double Trouble, Car Wars] -> The first three seasons were legendary, but I don't really follow the new episodes.

D0mw66q.jpg

41 The Masked Singer (UK) -> Only watched this via YouTube, but I enjoyed it nonetheless

42 Gravity Falls [Favorite episodes: The Time Traveler's Pig] -> Haven't watched the 2nd season, but I enjoyed the 1st one.

43 OK-JEK -> Indonesian sitcom about online motorcycle taxi drivers.

44 One Punch Man [Favorite characters: Saitama] -> Only watched couple of episodes so far, but I don't think I will hate Season 2 as much as other people.

45 Tom and Jerry Tales (2006) -> The storytelling is far better than the original 1975 version imo.

46 Family Feud -> Only watched this via YouTube and TikTok, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

47 Bajaj Bajuri -> Indonesian sitcom about a rickshaw taxi drivers with some dirty jokes.

48 Hawaii Five-0 [Favorite characters: Chin Ho-Kelly] -> Enjoyed Season 3-7 a lot and not quite a fan anymore after Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park left.

49 Kaguya-sama: Love is War [Favorite characters: Kaguya Shinomiya] -> Quite confident I'll enjoy the sequels as I've only watched 5 episodes so far.

50 Fairy Tail [Favorite characters: Lucy Heartfilia] -> same as Kaguya-sama

Takeshi’s Castle will forever be iconic <3

There’s a new version on Prime that was released in 2023! I tried to give it a watch but it focused a lot more on story/interviews than the actual games themselves so I ended up turning off :( I want a Craig Charles highlights show x

I'm gonna need to have a proper brainstorm for this  I can say my number one will always be Orphan Black with YellowJackets a close second but as for the other slots I've no idea how they'll turn out

50 The IT Crowd

1. Breaking Bad - pure cinema that happens to be in TV format, perfect length, rewatchable, multiple greatest ever episodes, some of the most compelling character moments you've ever seen.

2. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - the greatest sci-fi allegorical show tackling foreign policy drama with episodes that were prescient of modern politics, and a hugely likeable cast of characters and secondary cast.

3. The Wire - when I watched this a few years ago I was enthralled from one season to the next, a ruthless show with incredible social commentary.

4. The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya - still something that's left a huge impact on me, a genius show that now looks like it was made on a shoestring but very deliberately so, perfectly captures the spirit of the 00s with its animation and its... loose approach to plot and sane show ordering.

5. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - The audacity of Jojo's really pushes it above the rest of my 10/10s for anime, that and the volume I've loved from it, so many differently well-constructed fights and narratives.

6. Steins;Gate - Everything good about anime coupled with nothing bad about anime, time travel story extraordinaire and easily watchable in one season (we don't talk about Steins;Gate 0)

7. The Sopranos - Tony Soprano is one of the defining literary characters of modern times.

8. Succession - some of the best TV moments of the decade so far have come from this show. Underrated.

9. The West Wing - yes it's very liberal (in the derogatory too smug for its own good sense) but it's fantastic comfort television lounging in the thrill of politics while benefiting from not being a comedy.

10. The Expanse - the second greatest sci-fi allegorical show tackling foreign policy drama, very much recommend if you like hard sci-fi and the idea of Cold Wars between Earth and Mars with the asteroid belt acting as the third world.

11. Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War - Perhaps the peak of anime comedy, in that you let two goofballs who don't want to admit they're into each other into a student council room and let sparks and banter fly. Which works... SO WELL.

12. Higurashi: When They Cry - incredible story done nearly as well in anime format as it is in novel format. Nearly as well. Definitely the best way to experience Higu if you're never going to spend 50 hours reading.

13. Fate/Zero - the single greatest battle royale show ever, all made even better through the tangible feeling of doom that hangs over the show from knowledge you gain experiencing its companion story Fate/Stay Night (which is good, just not quite top 50 good).

14. Lost - a show that happened upon one of the most inventive and effective TV hour telling formats ever and holds up for it, particularly early on.

15. Game Of Thrones - mostly great etc

16. Death Note - a classic of cat-and-mouse crime thrillers

17. Assassination Classroom - love letter to education done through ridiculous comedy

18. Star Trek: The Next Generation - so so many brilliant episodes that have passed into TV canon and led fantastically by Patrick Stewart throughout.

19. Kaiji - 2 seasons of this was not nearly enough, addictive high-stakes show about a gambler Squid Game copied its homework

20. Parks And Recreation - best american sitcom through being low-stakes and positive (about its characters) while biting (in its satire of small-town America)

21. Fringe - science + sci-fi together, I haven't seen X-Files but I imagine with how much I love this, this'd do similarly.

22. Peaky Blinders - is this my highest British show? oop. This is how we need to do prestige TV though.

23. Neon Genesis Evangelion - cornerstone of modern anime and full of cool religious allegories and classic

24. Black Mirror - many moments of brilliance here and there and good social commentary besides.

25. Odd Taxi - highly recommend this short little series, everything is absolutely perfectly plotted to perfection in the series' single mystery.

26. Doctor Who - sure, it has some great moments, will give it that xx

27. Gintama - anime Futurama is the among the highest rated anime (on average across multiple seasons) on MAL for good reason, mixing absurdist comedy with great serious samurai arcs almost seamlessly.

28. Avatar: The Last Airbender - highly rated even among dirty weebs for a reason

29. Uma Musume - silly little horse girl anime if you look at it one way, the greatest sports show in existence if you look at it another way.

30. Veep - fantastic political comedy (and yes I enjoyed it more than The Thick Of It).

31. Attack On Titan - big budget anime fantasy is good lets go

32. Better Call Saul - in the same universe as Breaking Bad and very talky

33. Puella Magi Madoka Magica - features magical girls being very demure, very mindful, very Jesus in purgatory

34. Welcome To The NHK - how to ward off depression

35. A Place Further Than The Universe - another pretty much perfect short show that just spreads good vibes and adventure

36. Bojack Horseman - some of the best of modern western animation

37. Chernobyl - very impactful limited series

38. Vikings - one of the best historical TV series by playing a little loose with history while having amazing casting.

39. Re:ZERO - Starting Life In Another World - counterbalances it looking like anime wish fulfilment isekai trash with a ruthless unique concept and some jawdropping cinematic moments.

40. Nichijou - My Ordinary Life - delightfully kooky anime comedy

41. My Hero Academia - baby's first anime doing everything a show of that description needs to do right with a great cast of characters, fantastic music and good arcs supporting the overarching plot.

42. Misfits - always liked shows where people have different powers and this might have been where it originated.

43. One Piece - nearly 200 episodes in and I still have nearly 1000 episodes to go but it's done great so far...

44. The Boys - ridiculous and on the nose but entertaining with it.

45. The Inbetweeners - a classic, not many British comedies top this.

46. Chihayafuru - learned so much about karuta since watching this unorthodox sports anime + some of the most beautiful character designs you'll get anywhere

47. Friends - undeniable in just how good so many of its episodes are.

48. Angel Beats! - funny, emotional and short, like life itself.

49. Psycho-Pass - hey believable worlds set in Philip K Dick-land are hard to come by, PP nails it.

50. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood - I'll give the people determined to put this at #1 on MAL something (though Frieren's defeated them for now, yet to see myself how good the whole of Frieren is), this is a banger.

Have you seen The Last of Us? I don't recall seeing you post in that thread and I've been meaning to ask for a while x

No actually. The main reason is I wanted to play the game first (especially as it came to PC not long after the show aired) as if I know an adaptation of a well-regarded narrative video game or visual novel exists before watching the TV show then I tend to hold to the maxim that the interactive experience is generally better based on the intense feelings I experienced with those I've played in the past; and for the same reason I haven't touched the latest Fallout show.

That said my games longlist is gigantic and shows little sign of depleting especially with narrative games so I may eventually just decide to do the TV show route for The Last Of Us, I'm sure it's a great way to experience it regardless. I'll have to look at a few on your list in general, there's a bunch there I know I need to get to.
