For now i'm really enjoying Dizzy and Cupid's Bow.

Not sure about this…neither dizzy or the new song has grabbed my attention.

I don't think the new song has grabbed anyone's attention.

Both of these miss the mark for me :(

Polarireminds me of one of Janet Jackson’s breakdowns in one of her songs but neither of these songs go anywhere.

'Archangel' was released last month:

Both songs are great IMO, a massive improvement on 'Cupid's Bow' and whatever the hell that 'Polaris' track is, so I'm now looking forward to the album!

They are both great (to steal your adjective again) B-)

'When We Kiss' is pretty good! Also I've just listened to 'Archangel' and it's really good!

 

I'd lost complete interest after hearing the first two.

I think it certainly didn't help, but I also kind of feel like the public perception of him is that he's thrown his previous band members under the bus and stuck two fingers up at them (even if I know that isn't strictly true)

 

Plus it has been 10 years now since he first broke through big, I'm not altogether convinced he'd be in a much different position by now regardless.

His last era didn't exactly generate any big hits (Starstrukk and Sweet Talker weren't exactly massive hits), and that was WITH using the familiar Years & Years name. He's been on a downward trajectory for a while, I'm not sure the Eurovision result negatively impacted him (he's still getting big promo slots after all), he's just reached natural irrelevance for this stage in his career.

 

For what it's worth, Dizzy and Cupid's Bow are by far my favourite tracks from this era. I love them!

'When We Kiss' has unexpectedly been added to the R1 playlist today. Good to see it getting some support at least!

Of the singles released I like 'When We Kiss' and 'Archangel'.

 

But listening to the album it does feel like a miss. There isn't really anything that stands out. Of the other songs on the album 'Beautiful' is the best.

 

Its a shame as Years and Years were great but it does feel like something is missing here (well good hooks/ songs).

I'm kinda expecting it to bomb/ miss the top 10.

 

Although Olly was pushing signed physicals - so maybe it will help prop things up.

This entered the charts at #17, but was #4 in Sales, so unsurprisingly streaming let him down.

 

I had a listen to it this morning and it's not a bad album. When We Kiss is the best track, but I think that could be rivalled with extra listens of some of the other tracks.

 

It's a bit of a shame this album will probably disappear next week and will be largely forgotten.
