The state by state measurements have been weirdly going well, as far as California goes not only did we repeal the same sex marriage ban but we also passed increased funding for healthcare, wildfire prevention and clean water initiatives. Plus possibly a few more.

I know a lot of people shit on Californians but I’m thankful that I live in a state that takes measures to protect me and my family.

Trump didn't GAIN voters. He couldn't. He has his base, and after 2020 insurrection, he had no chance to expand on it. Kamala shed 14 million votes. She almost lost New Jersey. The problem is, the Democrsts offered nothing. They need to move left. Centrism is dead.

Got the stats now - Trump increased his vote in many (mainly Democrat) states such as New York and New Jersey which seen a swing of 11/12% which is unheard of here since the Reegan years.

His number of votes however is static. Kamala shed votes, and that's why thid eas a landslide.

California is quite close this time. New Jersey id swing state levels-close. No one voted for Democrats, as the Democrsts did not offer them anything to vote for. Time to go left.

And what did Trump offer people? Absolutely nothing but empty words and sound bites.

I think a lot of people are completely missing the trick and it's a big lesson for Labour unless we want a similar faith. People care about money in their pocket - voters aren't bothered about whose got the best policies and plans, I'm sure the new Tory Party leader is already taking a similar path (I think it was her or maybe it was Jenrick..). There's no communication of meaninful content and instead, lots of short 10-30 second sound bites, vague impressions of what might be delivered but no real substance behind it. The Dems need to find their own version of Trump to beat the MAGA cult or get Michelle Obama. I also think looking at the data (as much as I don't agree with this myself) I don't believe America wants a woman telling it what to do (expect Michelle.. maybe).

To say Trump didn’t gain voters is silly.

In 2020, 36% of Latino men voted for Trump (final exit poll). In 2024, 54% of Latino men are voting for Trump (current NBC News exit poll).
there were areas in every state that highlighted this

Trump is currently winning Passaic County, NJ, which is plurality Latino

2016: Clinton +32

2020: Biden +17

2024: Trump +

Trump won Starr County in South Texas, which is 96% Latino, by 16 points. In 2016, Trump lost the county by 60 point
From the Wisconsin exit poll: Trump wins by double digits among voters age 18-24, loses by double digits among voters age 65+, Virtually unfathomable 5-10 years ago

The idea it was just the usual base is wildly false. He got pretty much record numbers of Arab voters too. I know in Michigan his son in law who is Lebanese that guys father was there everyday encouraging Arabs to support him. So he definitely got a lot of new voters. Mostly young males. If you look at the Dems 90% of the talk was abortion or even endorsements or performances was usually billie eilish Taylor swift meghan stallion, katy perry etc etc a few exceptions but usually aimed at women so it left a big space and Trump’s podcast blitz kind of made him maybe much more culturally relatable to young males

Sorry but the facts show otherwise and I’m gutted Trump won. But you have to approach the world the way it is not the way it is in your own head.

He got the same.number of votes as last time... He hss a hard ceiling to his support.

Last time he got close to 75 million voters, and this time around 73 million.

Democrats had close to 82 million votes in 2020 and now merely 68 million...so technically this election had 16 million less people who went out and voted in polls!!!

Sadly!!!

I don't even think Michelle Obama is an option at this point. They just want old white men to lead!!!

There will be a woman president it’s inevitable, just needs a bit of luck to get a charismatic character and a favourable electoral situation

73-75m is quite a high ceiling then, but the fact votes came from different electoral coalitions shows his support hasn’t stayed with the same coalition

Covid election has unusual high turnout due to everybody getting a mailed ballot and a lot of people stuck at home with nothing to do due to it too. It was always going to be impossible to match those votes even though Trump came close

This article is interesting it covers a topic from an earlier page on this thread https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entr...an-for-lebanon/

Boulos told Al Jadeed in another interview that Trump will fulfill his recent promise to “end the destruction in Lebanon” through a “comprehensive regional peace agreement.”

“Trump is committed to ending the war before he enters the White House,” he added, without elaborating.

An Israeli official and a former Trump official told The Times of Israel last month that the former president told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu when they met in July that he wants the Gaza war wrapped up by the time he enters office.

So that sounds positive on the foreign policy front

Much as I can't stand Trump, I feel the left could learn a lesson or two from how he managed to revive the Republican party- who were basically a dying and dwindling political force until he showed up. He did so by consistently ignoring the Republican establishment who wanted to "keep the centre round" and were only interested in the views of the donors. Perhaps next time the Dems should spend less time trying to appeal to Liz Cheney and her 20 fans and more time trying to appeal to actual left of centre people so they come out and vote.

This!!!! Saying it'd be a one party state if the Dems went left, when obly thebleft is popular!!!! Wirh rheir base!!!, is absolute jokes and way behind the times.

Not to wish death on someone but after there already being 2 assassination attempts on Trump this year I would be surprised if no one tries it again within the next 4 years.

fingers crossed x

fingers crossed x

Vance is even worse!!!

Donald Trump’s allies and some in the private sector have been quietly preparing to detain and deport migrants residing in the United States on a large scale, according to four sources familiar with the discussions.

Bernie Sanders attempted this twice, and the DNC quashed it.

They are terrible at messaging and need to communicate how ordinary basic social programs are, healthcare etc — and then deliver on them so people actually have an improvement in their material conditions. Look at Walz and Minnesota — he has success in this. They didn't learn anything from it.

It doesn't matter who the Democrats choose — they can campaign with Liz Cheney and talk about putting Republicans in their cabinet — but they'll still be painted as radical socialist leftists by Trump and much of the media. They also can't outflank the right. I don't understand attempting to appeal to people who simply won’t vote for you, especially at the cost of alienating your base and offering them nothing tangible. They'll just stay at home.
