Posted November 13, 2024Nov 13 As has been rumoured for a while ago, Band Aid 40 will feature a mix of musicians from the original, Band Aid 20, and Band Aid 30 to create the "2024 Ultimate Mix". It's releasing on 25th November (a Monday), the 40th anniversary of the original song - so it'll be interesting to see how it charts. It's also being released as part of a Band Aid compilation vinyl/CD on Friday 29th November - https://www.resident-music.com/productdetai...oduct_id=119397 Singers confirmed: Bono Boy George Chris Martin Ed Sheeran George Michael Guy Garvey Harry Styles Kool & The Gang Rita Ora Robbie Williams Sam Smith Seal Sinead O'Connor Sting Sugababes Underworld Musicians confirmed: Damon Albarn Gary Kemp Jonny Greenwood Justin Hawkins Paul McCartney Paul Weller Phil Collins Roger Taylor Thom Yorke
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Yes glad they've kept up the tradition, although 30 version was by far the worst of the 4 so I'm not too hopeful of this one being any better.
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Yes glad they've kept up the tradition, although 30 version was by far the worst of the 4 so I'm not too hopeful of this one being any better. 20 was the worst. By releasing it on a Monday, it probably won’t go to #1 as it will only have 4 days of sales. They should release it on a Friday and on 13th December to enter the race for Christmas #1
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Yeah they're releasing this way too early to have any chance of Christmas #1, quite an odd decision unless they're not necessarily going for the #1
November 13, 2024Nov 13 My only thing with the current list is that it's very male heavy. I'd like to see some more female vocalists please
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Yeah they're releasing this way too early to have any chance of Christmas #1, quite an odd decision unless they're not necessarily going for the #1  They did the same for 30, released it way before Xmas. More likely to get #1 in a quiet week pre-Xmas than Xmas week itself I guess.
November 13, 2024Nov 13 It's impossible to tell how this will do. Does anybody want a Band Aid allstars? It could be a bit of a mess. Band Aid 30 opened with over 300k before it faded dramatically. I wasn't sure if they would try another after that but I suppose it's not the same sort of thing as the previous four. It might manage a Now and Then style sales-driven brief No.1 if enough people care to download it, I doubt it will be streamed much.
November 13, 2024Nov 13 My god! Woeful list of singers. Hard pass. It might scrape top 40... if they're lucky I guess. It won't do anything in the streaming age
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Have all the vocals been re-recorded then, or are they cobbling together vocals from previous recordings?
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Have all the vocals been re-recorded then, or are they cobbling together vocals from previous recordings? I was wondering that. Will there be a video for it?
November 13, 2024Nov 13 “to commemorate 40 years since the original recording, this newly compiled release features the original 1984 version, and subsequent band aid 20 and band aid 30 versions, plus the 2024 ultimate mix – an extraordinary new edit by trevor horn which mixes together vocals of the many artists who have recorded the song over the decades into one seamless whole.” It’s not being billed as Band Aid 40 and it’s not even the 1st track on the single, I doubt this will get that much of a push or have that much hype to be honest. If anything it will give the original a boost.
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Author It’s being premiered on the major radio stations at the same time, so it is at least having some sort of push. They are referring to it as Band Aid 40, the logo can be seen here: https://www.musicweek.com/talent/read/band-...y-single/090835
November 13, 2024Nov 13 So am I right that it’s premiered on the Monday and not released until the fri 29/11?
November 13, 2024Nov 13 I was wondering that. Will there be a video for it? So am I right that it’s premiered on the Monday and not released until the fri 29/11? "Director Oliver Murray has visualised Trevor Horn’s painstaking creation on video. Murray came to prominence last year when he directed the short film that accompanied The Beatles on their No.1 single Now And Then. The new Band Aid video will be unveiled on November 25, with broadcast details to be announced in the coming days." So yes there will be a video (of some sort) premiering on Monday 25th.
November 13, 2024Nov 13 Poor Band Aid 2 being erased from history! I know I'm the minority but I've always liked the S/A/W version (not as much as the original obvs) so I'm sad it's been overlooked for this, although I can understand why!
