Just to make things more confusing... an interesting tidbit here:

 

The Official Charts Company have declared this a "promo track" when talking about her announcement as a Mighty Hoopla headline.

 

"The news arrives hot on the heels of JADE's latest solo track, IT girl, which [recently] entered the UK Official Singles Chart at Number 44, her second-highest placement as a solo artist (and a very impressive placing indeed for a promo track)."

Yeah Sunday was always going to be the worst day. Hopefully with radio 1 playisting it can re-enter the chart but that’s probably wishful thinking lol.

‘Fantasy’ never entered despite R1 playlisting, so Idk about this doing it. Fingers crossed ofc but I think Radio 1 are just really on board with her!

Nothing will make It Girl re-enter the Spotify chart apart from Hot Hits.

 

Fantasy would have been a decent probably muti top 20 charting hit with Hot Hits, and I hate to break it to you, but Angel of My Dreams wouldn't have done a huge amount had it not had Hot Hits from day one. Sadly, it's the cruel, harsh reality of the charts.

I think Radio 1 just really want to get behind Jade regardless of how well her songs chart.

I think it's more likely the case that the label changed it to a single in the week, and sent it to Radio 1 to be playlisted on that basis.

Increased exposure - additions to playlists. It obviously resonated with people more than Fantasy and Midnight Cowby and narrowly missed the top 40 first week. Doesn't seem beyond the realms of possibility that a bit of a push could give it a few weeks in the charts

Now that the album is scheduled for May, it makes sense to make IT girl an actual single for the time being then to release FUFN in March/April if it’s to lead the album.

IT girl is also tune of the week on Radio 1's Breakfast Show. Some big exposure at least!

RCA should a) get her a performance slot at the BRITS, and b ) release the album on that week/week before so she can take advantage of it.

Even if the album was coming in May (granted things may have changed since that interview), a BRITs performance would really drum up the hype and make the wider public aware she’s coming!

A fan account on TikTok is posting videos using IT girl audio over videos of different big pop girls. The Jennie one has 2m views currently and the Chappell and Britney ones are both on 1m. Clever fan marketing!

I think the radio play is definitely having some sort of effect.

 

IT girl is now 55 on iTunes and was down to 146 at one point.

 

Really hoping somehow this blows up!
