JAAAAADE! Making history as the first British ex-girl group member to win a solo BRIT award!

  • Great speech from Myles addressing the closure of grassroots venues and labels not investing in acts long term.

Yay love that Sam is performing!

Gutted Chappell isn’t on the line-up. That would have been incredible! I hope she can be a last-minute/surprise performer.

Surprised Dua isn’t performing considering she’s nominated in multiple categories.

Why not have Chappell when she was one of the biggest artists of last year and the Grammys had her yet they got one hit wonders performing next week
I've read somewhere Chappell is performing at Elton John's Oscars party which is the night after the BRITs so I doubt she wanted to be here and the fly to LA and perform within a day of each other.

The BRITs should not have been moved to Saturdays. They actually had more viewers when it was on Tuesday or Wednesday and I’m sure Chappell could get a private jet and fly over here and straight back as soon as her performance is finished if she did perform

Chappell and Sabrina are on the same label so it's pretty obvious that they won't pay for Chappell to be there just to watch Sabrina win everything AND the global success or whatever award.

Well, the 2023 BRITs (the first on a Saturday) were up on the previous two.

Last year was down to an all-time low but I think there were more issues than it being a Saturday.

More people watched it on Tuesday or Wednesday as more people go out on Saturday nights and as for Chappell, it seems right for her to perform PPC as it’s now a contender for #1

Idk if you have the answer to this but something I'm confused by and I'm hoping someone knows. I'm American so I don't understand the ins and outs of y'alls music industry. But like, I've seen OCC say that Sabrina's UK label is polydor, and then other articles they call her and Chappell label mates despite Chappell being Island everywhere. I suppose it's moot anyway for this discussion because Chappell/Island UK might not want to bring her in regardless of how labels work if she isn't likely to win, but I'm confused how labels work if she has 2 different labels. Or if there's some quirk I'm missing, idk

They all sit under Universal Music Group (UMG). Polydor and Island are subsidiaries of UMG so it makes them label mates. In the UK, Sabrina is signed to Polydor and in the US it is Island that manages her. That's why you'll have seen the OCC refer to Polydor (despite Spotify telling you her catalogue has been released under Island in the UK).

I understand what you're saying but I've never before heard artists from different labels under the same label be referred to as label mates, except maybe a little bit in the US after Republic and Island began sharing resources last year. I've never seen say an Interscope artist and a Republic artist be called label mates. Do polydor and Island UK operate closely together like Republic and Island do in the US?

Apparently Shaboozey has had to pull out so either we’re getting a replacement or the other acts will get longer slots.

Just saw Ezra Collective confirm on The One Show that they are performing on the night with Jorja Smith.

Seeing as they are just one day away. Here are some wildly off predictions from myself.
