December 16, 2024Dec 16 I wonder which person will be sending a Pet Shop Boys track this time, assuming they had new music out in 1997. ;)
December 16, 2024Dec 16 Author I don’t recall PSB releasing album in 1997, but certainly Depeche Mode did!!!
December 16, 2024Dec 16 I don’t recall PSB releasing album in 1997, but certainly Depeche Mode did!!! They did release two singles though, with b-sides, a couple of them fan favourites.
December 16, 2024Dec 16 Author They did release two singles though, with b-sides, a couple of them fan favourites. True. While both of those singles peaked inside Top 10 in UK charts, I am wondering how B-Sides tracks would be treated in a contest (if they were to be entered and not encouraging anyone to do so lol)?!!
December 16, 2024Dec 16 Author I've just sent a couple (of dozens :kink:) PM's to previous participants and some more <3 Hopefully they do read them in next 24 hours. P.S. Jade, your inbox is full so I sent a PM to Brer...
December 17, 2024Dec 17 True. While both of those singles peaked inside Top 10 in UK charts, I am wondering how B-Sides tracks would be treated in a contest (if they were to be entered and not encouraging anyone to do so lol)?!! I suspect they'd be treated in the same way as album tracks, as those songs themselves would not usually be responsible for the success of the main single, although then again I'm not so sure that A Red Letter Day would have made the top ten if the single package hadn't included any exclusive b-sides! Somewhere is a different matter as it wasn't on the original version of the album (but was added to a reissue), although the b-sides still probably helped that along on its way to the top ten too!
December 17, 2024Dec 17 Author Up to 17 entrants and we still have just about 7 hours to go :cheer: Lots of good entries so far, so you don’t want to miss this edition :kink:
December 17, 2024Dec 17 What about a song that was released as a single in 97 and then put in an album released in 98? Does that count?
December 17, 2024Dec 17 What about a song that was released as a single in 97 and then put in an album released in 98? Does that count? That would be fine as long as you enter the single version, not the album version, if they are different.
December 17, 2024Dec 17 Try reaching out to Mangø too, he loves a good retro piece and have you seen his CD collection! :o
December 17, 2024Dec 17 The internet is being VERY confusing so I’m sending something that’s safely within the year (as in the internet is in consensus that it was released in 97)
