So decided that £3.49 to rent The Delinquents on Amazon Prime wasn't a bad shout to see the movie again after 30ish years.

Really enjoyed it.

Kylie is good in it, with only her girlie giggle being a bit grating. Charlie Schlatter was also a pretty good actor.

Quite a good vehicle for Kylie's big screen debut and, whilst about as deep as a puddle, it was a decent enough movie and a pleasant enough way to spend a couple of hours.

It’s a decent film - it got so much hype at the time but I remember most of her fanbase couldn’t go and see it (myself included) as it was rated a 15 I think.l which wasn’t the best move.

It’s a shame it’s never been properly re-released or the soundtrack available on streaming.

I do enjoy the film! I haven't watched it in about a decade and her character is likeable, but I've never really rated Kylie as an actress.

I loved her as Charlene.

Wasn't there a bit of a drama over it being given a 12 cert so more of her fans could go watch it?

The movie does deal with some more "adult" themes, Kylie gets topless and Charlie gets his bum out. So I think it was considered that it should be a 15. Having looked around a bit on-line, I still can't work out whether it was considered a hit or a flop (probably painted as a flop for the Kylie Flops headlines).

Tears On My Pillow doesn't actually start until halfway through the credits, so I doubt the movie contributed much towards Tears making No.1

It was deemed a ‘flop’ due to the expectation being high as Kylie was at the top of her career chart wise in the UK (8 x Top 5 singles and 2 x #1 albums).

In reality though it done well -

“In Australia, the film grossed A$3,370,650, making it the most successful Australian film of 1990

In the United Kingdom, the film grossed £1,072,110 in its first week, making it the 17th highest-grossing film of 1989”

Pretty decent to be the 17th biggest grossing film of 1989 in the UK considering it premiered at UK cinemas on December 26th.

I’ve not found an official source for that 17th biggest film of 1989 but I wonder if it means films released on that year rather than within the time frame of January - December 1989.
