July 19Jul 19 Na at least Mr bright side only spent 7 weeks top 40, [1 week top20/10] and isn't getting played on the charts all the time, Plus its doing its lower chart run being on acr 🙌
July 19Jul 19 crazy comparison, even if Mr. Brightside was hypothetically banned from charting, Beautiful Things would have to spend the next 7 and a half years straight in the chart to catch up with its record.
July 19Jul 19 Neither Lose Control or Beautiful Things are anywhere near as likely to be in the chart in 7 years time as Mr. Brightside itself, that’s the point. For the last 4 years, Mr. Brightside has charted for 48 or 49 weeks out of 52, those are literally unbeatable numbers when it has a 400 week head start on every new song
July 19Jul 19 It's possible but I think both songs have started losing a bit of steam lately. Older stuff might be exceptions to the rules, but I feel like at any point, you can pull back the Spotify charts from 2 years ago and see a lot of seemingly immortal songs that you've forgotten about because they just slipped away without fanfare. Imagine telling someone even just a year ago that "Someone You Loved" would be out of the top 200 for months, and that a surprise return of Lewis Capaldi with fanfare and a #1 single would jolt the song back up...to briefly matching the numbers it was managing in 2024. I think it's really hard for new hits to build up throwback appeal, so they do eventually just slip away once they're no longer at the forefront of 'current' hits.
Friday at 17:241 day “Beautiful Things” increasing again. Much as I don’t think it should be on SCR its stability is incredible - everything else that was big around the same time has fallen away.

Friday at 17:581 day The idea of Dior and Manchild going to ACR before Beautiful Things is hysterical

Friday at 18:151 day Author it’s the OCC bloody fault cos of their silly market decline rule it’s not fit for purpose no more when you get Benson making a mockery of the system dodging ACR this much I’m still half expecting Ordinary to get a prolonged reset next year after award season too…
