I estimated 22k for “Beautiful Things” last week so with 21,944 this week it must have been close to avoiding again. We should all make an offering to the chart gods. 🙏

Yes it seems too early for 12 to 12 in my mind!!

I’ve had a bit of a thought. Escapism. turns 3 years old this Sunday so therefore becomes eligible for permanent ACR. Merry Christmas by Ed & Elton got put on it mid chart run last year so surely they’d do the same for Escapism. too?

not necessarily as there’s stricter rules for christmas songs

Will some of the songs on DCL2 go back to SCR next week as a result of the market declining?

You mean because of the Taylor songs falling away? They’re no more than 3% of the market anyway so if they drop by 1/3rd say it only contributes a 1% decline, and most declining songs will generally drop by more than that.

Ahh right gotcha, thank you

Golden increased on Spotify (+60k compared to previous week) so it's not guaranteed it's on DCL2.

I suspect it had a bigger drop than that on Amazon. Its combined sales are down by 1,360.

I'm surprised this is still around, it felt like a blink and you'll miss it top 40 entry from months ago.

I’d rather that and the other said songs went to ACR during the Christmas rush. Only problem with the Taylor songs is that they’re due for ACR during the Christmas rush so I wouldn’t be bothered if they miss ACR on their due date because even if they did go ACR, they’d get reset in the new year

you’re right but it was a re entry this week for whatever reason.

where is my husband being a smash must’ve helped somewhat but then you’d think it’d have re entered sooner so not sure.

That's so unfair Xmas songs are exempt. It really doesn't allow for fresh Xmas songs to chart. So boring seeing all the classics charting every single year.

Xmas songs aren’t exempt - they’re on permanent ACR. The fresh Christmas songs struggle to compete in spite of having a big advantage but that’s down to the public.

Its the exact opposite , its just the public cant move on from the classics, heck wham would of still been challenging for christmas number 1 on double acr 😬

If ACR is doing nothing to stop old Christmas songs, there are a few solutions

  1. Remove streaming from Christmas songs that are over 3 years old and they’ll only be able to chart on pure sales

  2. 3 track rule on old Christmas songs but doing that, it will be Wham! Mariah and Brenda every year

If Wham! keep constantly getting Christmas number 1, then maybe OCC might do something about it

So just more manipulation of an already distorted chart! Taking Christmas songs out entirely and having a seperate chart would be the better option imo.

Haven't you been saying this for years now? Can totally still imagine you saying the same thing in 2040.

Option 1 would be better. Christmas songs in the chart but only on pure sales. People can still stream their favourite Christmas songs but the streams just won’t contribute to the charts
