The acid house synths and operatic middle 8 are right up my street yesssss!!

 

I was a bit unsure about the chorus on first listen (thought it was veering on rara, gaga, mama, papa self-parody) but on repeat listens I'm embracing the fun of the spell theme more and do quite like how the rest of the chorus fits together well, with the Italian amor/morta followed by "In her tongue she's saying death or love tonight".

 

I really like what I know of Siouxsie and the Banshees but the sample seems to be pretty subtle, think it's just some of the guitar work?

 

So glad we got the video for this straight away - the choreography is fabulous.

Is 80 a good start for Apple Music? I’m not familiar with that platform so can’t measure success on it as well as Spotify :unsure:

I definitely see this being bigger than Disease just based on what I’ve seen this is getting way more discussion, I think YouTube debut is higher too (although in this instance there was a big promo slot and the song wasn’t released earlier too so it was both a

Song / video debut) but this all feels very aligned in the right direction!

 

I think there’s enough moments in the video for a possible TikTok trend thanks to the dance routine. I think this has a real shot though of doing something outside the fanbase it’s quirky enough but too alienating and the song is very catchy too and the visual is very Gaga too vocally it’s not alike what she’s done before but this is very much like elevated The Fame Monster / Born This Way style Gaga. The way she’s actually happy in her personal life too I really feel like we’re in for an era unlike anything we’ve had probably since Born This Way.

THIS is what should’ve been the true successor roll out to Born This Way. The song, the video, the visuals and the choreography (AND the energy). For me this is what she tried to do with Alejandro and Born This Way the video but executed it 50 million times better. This is art, and a masterpiece of one!

 

I cannot believe and saying that I genuinely think this….might overtake Disease in my Gaga song rankings and that for me is her 5th best song EVER. This era is so strong, so so strong and I have not had this little monster fanning lit up in me since she rolled out Judas/The Edge of Glory/Hair before the album release of Born This Way.

 

What I can describe Abracadabra is….if you take The Fame Monster (more specifically Bad Romance), mash it up with Born This Way but tone it down with Joanne and give it Disease outfits and Alejandro music video visuals to the aesthetics then you get this song (and video) as a final product.

But nothing falls from the sky, promotion has to be there and so far the song is not having playlist support and will only have 4 days of tracking, no song could have a good debut under these conditions no matter how good it is.

'Disease' hit me instantly. I'm liking this on first listen, am I loving it? I don't know... Will have to see! The production is great, but it feels a bit too chaotic for me to work my way through (I'm sure I'll get there soon enough though!)

The chorus is an earworm... I love the bridge too! The verses get swamped a little by the bridge and chorus, but I'm sure their time will come!

It's probably way easier to chart on AM on weekdays than Friday, but it's a good start. Hope it charts in the US Apple Music too.
