The fact that there’s looking to be 8 Taylor Swift albums in the top 40 is wild (Midnights, Tortured Poets, Folklore, Evermore, 1989, 1989 TV, Reputation, Lover).

Guess it really is Taylor Mania

Doubt 1989 original done 500k of it sales post 2020

Edit maybe she has looking at an older list wow

5. Adele - 21 (#1, 2011) 5,413,000 [05/01/23]

So has Adele overtaken Sgt. Pepper if we update its sales to 04/01/2025?

40. Evermore Taylor Swift (49-52-39-40) 506,000
39. Voyage ABBA (7-14-25-39) 513,000
38. Hollywood's Bleeding Post Malone (16-26-35-28-38) 514,000 (T/S 623,000)
37. Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not Arctic Monkeys (51-42-37-34-37) 527,000 (T/S 2,414,000)
36. Twenty Five George Michael (50-40-40-36-36) 532,000 (T/S 1,746,000)

A Taylor album which drops on the survey- all true, albeit only by a place, ABBA prove more fleeting and are still struggling to go double platinum with their comeback. Second Arctic album which is approaching 2.5 million, and George Michael approaches 6x platinum.

35. 1989 (Taylor’s Version)- Taylor Swift (77-35) 536,000
34. Dua Lipa Dua Lipa (25-27-29-32-34) 544,000 (T/S 1,108,000)
33. The Essential- Michael Jackson (65-33) 551,000 (t/s 1,840,000)
32. Between Us- Little Mix (38-31-32) 553,000
31. Legacy David Bowie (35-34-32-29-31) 553,000 (T/S 1,030,000)

Taylor’s re-recordings strike again as “1989” shoots up the rankings, Michael Jackson’s other GH set outstrips “Number Ones”. Little Mix are also holding up better than many would expect!

Evermore is definitely underrated in terms of Taylors discography, glad uts still holding up

1989TV can't be far off from the originals post 2020 sales , testament to how much of a juggernaut that album is

Hopefully this isn't a sign little mix will be just a legacy act in the future and they have a successful comeback eventually

30. Definitely Maybe Oasis (67-67-66-54-30) 554,000 (T/S 2,799,000)
29. Reputation- Taylor Swift (42-29) 565,000 (t/s 950,000)
28. Singles Maroon 5 (69-44-39-35-28) 566,000 (T/S 838,000)
27. 1989 Taylor Swift (97-71-47-26-27) 585,000 (T/S 1,861,000)
26. When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Billie Eilish (4-13-17-23-26) 604,000 (T/S 1,065,000)

Oasis have three albums in the top 30 which will be helped by their reunion tour later this year, Billie Eilish sees her best seller move over the million mark, and double Taylor though you suspect sales of the original “1989” will take the hit in rundowns to come, as will “Reputation” when we get the new version but its sold more in the 2020’s than it did in the 2010’s already.

25. Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon Pop Smoke (6-9-12-20-25) 654,000
24. Guts- Olivia Rodrigo (41-24) 655,000
23. Legend Bob Marley & The Wailers (14-19-22-21-23) 699,000 (T/S 5,279,000)
22. (What's The Story) Morning Glory Oasis (21-24-25-22-22) 718,000 (T/S 5,304,500)
21. Lover Taylor Swift (37-48-41-24-21) 728,000 (T/S 883,000)

Olivia Rodrigo proves she wasn’t a one era act with a double platinum second album, but otherwise more Oasis and Taylor in the mix along with the ever present Bob Marley GH album.

Wait when did Guts go double platinum? I must've completely missed that
I did think the 'GUTS' total looked a little high - according to the Album sales by year for the 2020s thread, it did 208,600 in 2023 and 284,000 in 2024, so around 490k to the end of 2024. The 2023 post also quotes "371,400" in total, but as a 2023 release I think that may be a slight mix up.

Yeah Vidcapper’s figures at the end of 2023 say 208.6k for the year and total 371.4k. But as it was only released in 2023 the 371.4k must be a mistake I think. The 208.6k is consistent with it going platinum in April 2024 so think that’s right, making its total 493k at the end of 2024.

I’ve changed that total in the chart vault.

"GUTS" definitely hasn't sold 655k. Hasn't even achieved double Platinum status yet.
Guts is about ca. 520K at the moment

20. The Tortured Poets Department- Taylor Swift (NEW) 784,000
19. Future Nostalgia Dua Lipa (3-3-7-15-19) 804,000
18. 30 Adele (2-3-8-18) 826,000
17. Folklore Taylor Swift (12-17-21-19-17) 841,000
16. Rumours Fleetwood Mac (15-16-16-17-16) 843,000 (T/S 5,077,000)

Into the top 20 with our highest new entry and best seller of 2024 from Taylor (naturally) along with “Folklore” which inches up here overtaking both Dua and Adele, the latter of which is struggling to get to 3 x platinum which is a mighty fall from her previous sets. Fleetwood Mac remain ever present and move over the 5 million mark!

14. AM Arctic Monkeys (41-30-23-16-14) 852,000 (T/S 2,098,000)
13. Fine Line Harry Styles (2-4-4-9-13) 879,000 (T/S 949,000)
12 ÷ Ed Sheeran (13-12-10-14-12) 883,000 (T/S 4,333,000)
11. Time Flies 1994-2009 Oasis (24-20-19-18-11) 908,000 (T/S 2,033,000)

Double Harry this time though both his albums are in decline on this survey. Arctic Monkeys and Oasis both move over the 2 million mark and climb here. Meanwhile Ed starts to move back up too.

10. Midnights- Taylor Swift (20-10-10) 965,000
9. Gold- Greatest Hits Abba (20-15-11-12-9) 994,000 (T/S 6,877,000)
8. Greatest Hits Queen (8-6-6-7-8) 1,004,000 (T/S 6,309,000)
7. Curtain Call- The Hits Eminem (28-21-13-11-7) 1,016,000 (T/S 3,314,000)
6. Sour Olivia Rodrigo (8-5-6-6) 1,050,000

Time for the big guns to come out now! Taylor’s biggest seller of the decade so far holds in the top 10 but sees ABBA and Eminem soar above her- Abba on course for 7 million at some point in 2025 unless something dramatic happens. Incidentally if it does then it will be the 4th decade on the trot that it has passed the million mark in terms of sales within a decade! Queen and Eminem slip past a million sales in the 20s, as does Olivia Rodrigo- the only female to do so in the current decade so far (to January 25)!

1. The Highlights The Weeknd (38-18-5-1) 1,234,000

Making short work of the opposition and with near constant residency in the top 10 (and never sinking below No 32 in it’s 4 year chart run)- The Weeknd claims the biggest selling album of the first half of the 2020’s. Don’t dismiss Elton who only recently made No 1 with “Diamonds”, previous best sellers of the decade by Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi also retain top 5 positions though both are in decline position wise.

Great posts thanks for doing it, going by this Abba gold is the biggest selling album of all time in UK. There is always confusion surrounding Queen Greatest Hits as I think the greatest hits 1 and 2 combo is counted in by some which puts its sales around 7.2 million.
Thanks for this Gezza! It’s always fun, even though the top end will become more GH heavy with each year that passes. A few artist albums like “Sour” are still really holding their own though.
