Following the same structure used in the Dance and Electronic forum, we are going to run the same weekly poll for new indie and alternative releases in 2025. Each week, 8 new releases are selected to go head to head, with one weekly winner which will then go up against future weekly winners later in the year at the end of each quarter of the year, and then again at the end of the year to determine the ultimate winner of 2025.

Last week's results;

Sam Fender – Remember My Name [ 8 ] ** [33.33%]

Japanese Breakfast – Mega Circuit [ 5 ] ** [20.83%]

Bon Iver – Everything Is Peaceful Love [ 3 ] ** [12.50%]

Lucy Dacus – Best Guess [ 2 ] ** [8.33%]

Self Esteem – 69 [ 2 ] ** [8.33%]

The Amazons – Love Is A Dog From Hell [ 2 ] ** [8.33%]

The Lottery Winners – Turn Around [ 2 ] ** [8.33%]

Daniel Caesar & Rex Orange County – There's A Field (That's Only Yours) [ 0 ] ** [0.00%]

Sam Fender is back with new music, ahead of the launch of his studio album this week. The emotive ballad Remember My Name is inspired by his grandparents.

This week's rankings;

1. Those Damn Crows – Dreaming

2. Fontaines D.C. – It's Amazing To Be Young

3. Sam Fender – Little Bit Closer

4. Mumford & Sons – Malibu

5. Suki Waterhouse – Dream Woman

6. Alien Weaponry – 1000 Friends

7. A Day To Remember – Make It Make Sense

8. Disturbed – I Will Not Break

Mumford & Sons' and Sam's were OK, but I hope there's better on the respective albums (when I get round to hearing it in full in Sam's case). Suki's I quite liked, but it has to be Fontaines this week!
Don't even need to give anything a second listen this week, comfortably Suki Waterhouse. Fontaines is OK but really far from what they're capable of. Everything else too boring or bad rock to make me contemplate hearing it again.

Suki too

agree Fontaines can do better

Also voted for Suki Waterhouse, 'Good Looking' was the only song of hers I'd loved until now but this is the best I've heard since that

Fontaines also good but not quite up there with the best of Romance

nothing I feel strongly about from this batch, voted for the Suki track

Cheekface to make next week's poll, the people demand it 🫶
