Glad everything has points so far. I'm a bit surprised to see Ultra Naté leading, it wasn't quite my thing - although I did love seeing Ultra and Sonique in the contest, both representing strong earlier female pioneers who managed to break through successfully.

I'm partially here as watching a movie inspired by one of the best female artists of all time (Celine Dion).

I liked this competition as it took me out of my comfort zone :)

Dan brought us the slamming techno meets spiritual vocals of 'Diabla' by Belgium-based Spanish DJ and producer Indira Paganotto from her 2022 EP Lions Of God. Indira draws from genres like psyprogressive, minimal, techno. She is not afraid to blend genres or styles, always with organic acid touches. This energetic eclecticism has become her main signature along with her constant smile.

Doctor Blind sent 'Heaven Come Crashing' by Brooklyn composer and producer Rachika Nayar. It is the title track of her second album of the same name which was rated an 8.4 by Pitchfork who aptly describe the record as an injection of "the ambient wash of her past work with flashes of dancefloor emotionality, striking a balance between reflective contemplation and the ego-melting thrills of a warehouse party."

Thanks kath for proposing this theme, it's one that is close to my heart as my niece wants to be a DJ, and so I spent some time in lockdown making a women only DJ/producer compilation for her that highlighted some of the great women DJs /producers that there are out there. Loved The Seed, nice to see that in the lead so far - everything I've heard from Anna Lunoe so far has been great.

Now I'm revealed I can thank Brer, Chez and Dobbo for the 12 points - wow! Amazing to receive three sets, although it's funny but unsurprising to me how marmite this entry is proving. I guess vocally it's not particularly accessible but I adore the latter half of the track with the drum and bass. I heard this song back in 2023 and it still has fewer than 2,000 streams on Spotify (probably 20 at least from me) so I wasn't really expecting much.
