Thinking of Clementine Douglas... how long was Tell Me on the playlist for? It still seems to be gaining traction but it's not anywhere on here...

I can't imagine them dropping Calvin, it maybe that the track wasn't submitted in time for the playlist meeting or they just want to sit on it for a week or so. They don't have to playlist anything immediately. I should imagine it will get played on the dance shows and added soon.

I don't think they're as strict with dropping artists like they were 10-15 years ago.

9 weeks, it only got dumped last week

I get the Big Weekend support, but it still seems very odd.

Tbh if they wanted to keep the Big Weekend artists on, they could have dropped Ariana instead, it's not like 'Twilight Zone' is smashing!

I guess it remains to be seen, it could go either way but I think he's in the danger zone of it happening soon regardless.

I don’t know when their playlist meetings are but it was announced on Tuesday evening I believe.

 

What’s with songs going C-C-OUT, first d4vd and now Ashnikko? This has only happened twice so not a super common occurrence, and is Sleep Token first time a song has spent longer than 3 weeks on the C List since The Marías in March?

Glad to see Benson and Jorja Smith out of the songs I have heard!

Surprised that "Blessings" didn't get an instant add, but I guess it's for the best (in a sort of way) after how it went for "Smoke the Pain Away". Also, if it's taken into consideration that Radio 1 Big Weekend is happening, it makes sense as well.

To complement that, both releases reminds me to "Nuh Ready Nuh Ready" and "One Kiss" back in 2018. However, he didn't make a clear makeover like he did this year when "Smoke the Pain Away" came out. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Nah he will still be playlisted just maybe not A Listed. Everyone thought the exact same about Guetta 10 years ago, they’ll still have hits just not guaranteed hits.

I’d imagine Tom and Jade fulfil their need to have a certain amount of home grown artists on the playlist! Plus they don’t have to support a song just because it’s charting well!

I noticed that this year's Eurovision entry has yet to be playlisted, even though Sam Ryder, Mae Muller and Olly were all playlisted in advance of the competition.

Could it still be playlisted this week, or is it a sign they've now washed their hands of it again?

I doubt it, I think it’s the best we’ve had since Sam but not really Radio 1 style.

Hmmm, I'm not really sure I buy the argument that it's not radio 1 style and that's why they're avoiding. I feel like how we performed last year (and how that also performed in the charts) might have given them a reason to avoid this.

(Unless it ends up being playlisted on Friday and making this whole point null and void)

I think it's both of these reasons tbh. It's definitely the least R1-friendly song of the last few.

Yeh they very much sound like a R2 artist/group from what I’ve heard of them!
