Posted May 14, 20251 yr PopBase and Team of Rihanna are stating that the Smurfs Soundtrack single titled āFriend of Mineā is coming this Friday. Also now confirmed by Rihanna herself via her Instagram page!
May 14, 20251 yr The closest we will ever get to the new album are these soundtrack cuts so I guess we'll have to take it.
May 16, 20251 yr Author There's not much to it really is there! Very little lyrics š .Can't say I was expecting a masterpiece though I mean it is just the Smurfs soundtrack after all but at least we've gotten something musically to remind us all she is still a singer.Soundtrack singles wise i'd say Sledgehammer and the tracks from Home and definitely the Blank Panther tracks she did are stronger than this though!
May 16, 20251 yr I know itās a soundtrack single but itās awful. Literally just a chorus and some strange production with it. Her voice sounds so different here but I did like the adlibs towards the end.
May 16, 20251 yr I wouldn't even know this was Rihanna apart from the vocal towards the end. The production is like 90s British dance (Underworld/Chemical Brothers) which is an interesting diversion but the song doesn't develop or go anywhere, and is a very odd fit for an animated movie.
May 16, 20251 yr I imagine this will make more sense played during the film as I wouldnāt have said it was a song from The Smurfs movie.
May 16, 20251 yr This is so bizarre. I was expecting something cheesy and fun like Britneyās āOoh La Laā, not whatever this is
May 16, 20251 yr Shit like this makes me less excited for music from her. I didn't like that last borefest a few years back either.
May 16, 20251 yr This is a very strange song for a kids film haha, sounds like a watered down Fred again.

May 16, 20251 yr This is abysmal, it sounds like something Rita Ora would tack onto the end of an EP to make up the numbers
May 16, 20251 yr What in the actual f*** is this?Utterly convinced she's trolling us at this point. š¤£
