'Perfect' appears to have been one of the reasons the OCC brought in the January resets rule, to prevent old songs getting reset just because of the post-Christmas market reset.

Although with the way streaming habits have evolved, there are now many Top 40 songs which may not be as old as 'Perfect' was then, but are still old enough by now that their declines aren't particularly marked, so can keep dodging ACR in a similar way (if there's good weather or the week after a Bank Holiday, etc. etc.) So while I wouldn't want to see the OCC "do a Perfect" on 'Pink Pony Club', it feels like some changes to the rules are badly needed at this point.

This is just personal preference, though. The chart showcases what's popular, and although we know some old songs get a disadvantage with ACR, it's not all about fresh music. If it were, Mr. Brightside would've been banned from charting years ago.

That’s what they should do with Christmas songs that are older than 3 years old or just remove streaming from them

Without ACR you can get something like Billboard Hot 100 with almost zero moving for many months.

Exactly loads of artists have had more weeks at number 1 total than taylor, just so out of nowhere that comment 🫣

I'm very much against ACR on principle, but I don't think outliers to the system are a fault of it, just a quirk. If you want more fresh songs making the chart, they're doing it because of the dozens of songs that would otherwise be taking up slots for months on end that are on ACR. You'll get lucky quirks in the system and that's all they are. I think the arbitrary shunting of "Perfect" is the worst thing the OCC has done with all of this. Feels unreasonably petulant, and hardly moves the dial for the 50 or so songs that get to move up 1 place on the chart now that it's not there.
