June 11Jun 11 Author Alex Warren’s ‘Ordinary’ Spends Second Week at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100By Gary Trust | 06/09/2025Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” adds a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, a week after it became the singer-songwriter’s first leader on the list.Warren co-wrote “Ordinary” with Mags Duval, Cal Shapiro and Adam Yaron, who solely produced it. As reported on Billboard’s new Substack channel, Duval, celebrated the song topping the Hot 100 on Instagram. “I think back to the day we wrote this — having no idea how much this would change our lives,” she wrote. “Adam started playing this harp-like guitar part in the living room and I had been wanting to write a love song about a love so powerful it could ‘take you out of the ordinary,’ and that is exactly what this song and group of wonderful humans has done to my life. We opened the little idea the next day, Alex, Cal, Adam and I wrote the whole song [and] sang the choirs and Alex was determined to make this song known.”“Ordinary” tallied 21.5 million official streams (up 3% week-over-week), 48.1 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 11%) and 7,000 sold (down 12%) in the United States May 30-June 5.The track holds for a sixth week atop the Digital Song Sales chart and rises 4-3 on Streaming Songs, after four weeks at the summit, and 5-4 on Radio Songs (7-5).“Ordinary” also sizzles as the hottest hit on the Songs of the Summer chart for a second frame, a week after the seasonal survey made its annual return.Astute chart-watcher Jake Rivera notes that with “Ordinary” having replaced Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want,” featuring Tate McRae, atop the Hot 100, Warren and McRae are the first artists to earn initial No. 1s on the chart consecutively since a run of three in a row in March-April 2024: Teddy Swims, Metro Boomin and Hozier.Amid a stretch of multiple hits logging especially lengthy runs on the Hot 100, how does two acts notching first No. 1s in 2025 compare to last year? At this point in 2024, five artists, via four songs, had done so, with seven acts achieving the feat by the end of the year. Here’s a rundown.2025:Tate McRae, as featured on Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want” (hit No. 1 on the Hot 100 dated May 31)Alex Warren, “Ordinary” (June 7)2024:Rich the Kid, Playboi Carti, as featured on ¥$: Ye & Ty Dolla $ign’s “Carnival” (March 16)Teddy Swims, “Lose Control” (March 30)Metro Boomin, “Like That” (with Future and Kendrick Lamar; April 6)Hozier, “Too Sweet” (April 27)Sabrina Carpenter, “Please Please Please” (June 29)Shaboozey, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” (July 13)For 2025 not to have the sole fewest first-time acts atop the Hot 100 this decade, five more would need to claim their first No. 1s, matching last year’s total. Previously, nine acts (via seven songs) reigned for the first time in 2023, following 12 acts (five songs) in 2022; eight acts (seven songs) in 2021; and 13 acts (11 songs) in 2020. (2022’s sum of acts is boosted by Encanto’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” which has seven artist billings.)Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want,” featuring Tate McRae, holds at No. 2 on the Hot 100, two weeks after it bounded in as Wallen’s fourth No. 1 and McRae’s first. It scores a third week atop both Streaming Songs (24.1 million, down 4%) and the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart. Wallen follows on the Hot 100 with the No. 2-peaking “Just in Case,” which keeps at No. 3, and “I’m the Problem” (4-5), as I’m the Problem, the parent set of all three songs, posts a third week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” lifts 5-4 after 13 weeks atop the Hot 100 beginning in March. It adds a 24th week at No. 1 on both the multimetric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts, extending the longest command on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (dating to October 1958, when the chart became the genre’s all-encompassing songs ranking).Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” repeats at No. 6 on the Hot 100, following its record-tying 19 weeks at No. 1 beginning last July, and Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile” is steady at No. 7 after five weeks at No. 1 beginning in January.Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” which led the Hot 100 for a week in March 2024, and became the year’s No. 1 song, is stationary at No. 8. It posts a record-extending 64th week in the top 10 and a record-padding 94th week on the chart overall.Rounding out the Hot 100’s top 10, Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” pushes 10-9, swapping spots with Drake’s “Nokia,” with both having reached No. 2. The former adds its 71st week on the chart overall, tying for the eighth-longest stay in the list’s history.
June 11Jun 11 Well that Top 10 is quite something, isn't it.Makes you feel grateful for the rules the OCC created for the UK charts
June 11Jun 11 Good to see Addison achieving a third Billboard Hot 100 entry! Intrigued to see where her album will land next week, saw it’s projected for top 5 at the moment.

June 11Jun 11 US HOT 100 11.06.25 #35 THE TOP TEN: 10. Nokia – Drake (Down 1/16 weeks on the chart) 9. Beautiful Things – Benson Boone (Up 1/71 weeks in chart) 8. Lose Control – Teddy Swims (No change/94 weeks in chart) 7. Die With A Smile – Lady Gaga/Bruno Mars (No change/42 weeks in chart) 6. A Bar Song (Tipsy) – Shaboozey (No change/60 weeks in chart) 5. I'm The Problem – Morgan Wallen (Down 1/18 weeks in chart) 4. Luther – Kendrick Lamar/SZA (Up 1/28 weeks in chart) 3. Just In Case – Morgan Wallen (No change/11 weeks in chart) 2. What I Want – Morgan Wallen/Tate McRae (No change/3 weeks in chart) 1. Ordinary – Alex Warren (No change/2 consecutive weeks at no. 1/17 weeks in the chart) NEW ENTRIES: 100. Nice To Meet You – Myles Smith (7/10) What I previously wrote: (now 7/10) The swing on this was nice, and the timing between each part was great, but it's not anything super out of the ordinary for Myles. It seems to find anything new from him as an artist. It uses the catchy "woah-oooo-oooo" line which I'm not surprised he's using, but it does eventually start to feel overused. And down to Myles' vocals, they're good, but I don't think they fit a lot of the songs' bases well, and even bending doesn't make it sound amazing. The end of the story is that I don't think he can sing on a song that's remembered forever, and FYI 'Stargazing' is not one of them. Despite me going a little harsh on Myles there, he definitely has potential to make use of a viral push; I'm never saying never! And due to the new EP, this could make a charting appearance. 98. Better Me For You (Brown Eyes) – Max McNown (3/10) Oh wow, how unexciting can American country music get? This is becoming like a competition to see who can make the most boring chord progression and give the least amount of passion. 94. Fame Is A G*n – Addison Rae (8.2/10) WOW... Addison makes something that I like?! That's a first. Addison's brand of bubblegum pop and synths usually feels like it doesn't do enough for me, but this made me think of a less glamorous version of PinkPantheress (and I don't mean that in an insulting way); it's just quick, pleasing pop that's good for the playlist. 82. Easy Lover – Miley Cyrus (8.4/10) Miley leans back into her radio-pop sound while still keeping that class which made people love her new era. The album's out today, and hearing this boogie pop-rock song really lifts the expectations for the album. 81. Tu Sancho - Fuerza Regida (6.7/10) I wasn't happy that I had to review another track by Fuerza, but for once it wasn't the same thing that they always input into our ears; sure, it wasn't the pinnacle of human experience, but it felt a little more genuine and a small step for the reggaeton scene. 50. Owa Owa – Lil Tecca (5/10) Just like "Dark Thoughts", this won't be remembered long if it peaks. This samples the classic dance sound "Owa Owa" (which is a bad sample choice) and makes it one of the main components of the song. 33. Just Keep Watching – Tate McRae (7.6/10) Tate's currently my most streamed artist of the year, and this will extend her lead by a slight bit (which she needs, as No. 2 is catching up fast!). Not only is this the best song from the F1 album, but it also has Tate's signature style; it sounds like something from "THINK LATER" but with a fine sound and diva energy coming through. It's a move that Tate's doing to solidify her place among the top pop girlies, and she's doing it well. NOTEABLE CHANGES: Songs that climbed 10 spots or more: 73. Backseat Driver – Kane Brown (Up 10) 51. Whim Whamie – PLUTO/YKNIECE (Up 24) [HIGHEST CLIMBER] Songs that fell 10 spots or more: 99. Interlude – Morgan Wallen (Down 15) 97. June 17Jun 17 US HOT 100 17.06.25 #36 THE TOP TEN: 10. Beautiful Things – Benson Boone (Down 1/72 weeks in chart) 9. Lose Control – Teddy Swims (Down 1/95 weeks in chart) 8. Die With A Smile – Lady Gaga/Bruno Mars (Down 1/43 weeks in chart) 7. A Bar Song (Tipsy) – Shaboozey (Down 1/61 weeks in chart) 6. I'm The Problem – Morgan Wallen (Down 1/19 weeks in chart) 5. Luther – Kendrick Lamar/SZA (Down 1/29 weeks in chart) 4. Just In Case – Morgan Wallen (Down 1/12 weeks in chart) 3. What I Want – Morgan Wallen/Tate McRae (Down 1/4 weeks in chart) 2. Ordinary – Alex Warren (Down 1/18 weeks in chart) 1. Manchild – Sabrina Carpenter (NEW) NEW ENTRIES: 97. King Carter – Lil Wayne (8.2/10) 95. Type Dangerous – Mariah Carey (7.3/10) Boom-bap, soul and R&B in a mix that sounds good for the dancefloor and reminds me of Beyoncé's older eras but better. 93. Cotton Candy – Lil Wayne/2 Chainz (7.7/10) 74. Sapphire – Ed Sheeran (3/10) Tell me how Ed went from making many, many good singles that'll stick with me for years to making three songs that are forgettable. Sure, Azizam was my most streamed once, but it never really had a place in my heart… It's like a song that's good but not over the top but for some reason stuck with you. "Sapphire" goes for a mix of English and Punjabi, with Ed starting the song with a generic start and then loudly screaming "Sapphire" and then starting to rap, and if you know me, then you know I hate Ed Sheeran rapping; it's one of the most unnecessary things! It's like when Taylor Swift tried to cover Eminem's "Lose Yourself". And I've actually been hearing "Sapphire" on my feed for weeks, but it never stuck with me; in fact, it started bad, and now it's soured on me more than it already soured. It's sad seeing one of my most streamed artists stumble this badly. 65. Bells – Lil Wayne (3.9/10) 62. Welcome To Tha Carter – Lil Wayne (7/10) 61. Banned From NO – Lil Wayne (7.2/10) 56. Touch Me Like a Gangster – Jessie Murph (8.2/10) One of my least favourite music artists is actually making really good stuff… WOW. Sure, she's still not the best at singing, but this slaps. I haven't heard a country combination quite like this; it's fun, it's badass, and the production steers away from anything you'd hear in the country world... It kind of reminds me of Tones and I. 54. Sharks – Lil Wayne/Jelly Roll/Big Sean (8/10) Wasn't expecting to like this in the slightest, but I really do. Jelly Roll was used on a really nicely placed hook, and Lil Wayne and Big Sean added great verses to make a song that didn't feel hardcore and instead took the right pace. 42. Typa – Glorilla (5.3/10) GloRilla takes a less badass route to provide a lower and softer pitch rap that's not super soft but softer than her usual. 36. Hip-Hop – Lil Wayne/BigXthaPlug/Jay Jones (8/10) This really isn't a career highlight for BigX, and his good verses were dimmed down by a worse Lil Wayne, who drowned the song with autotune that didn't feel like it matched this fast-paced, high-octane rap song. Good song, but without Wayne, my score would be higher. 1. Manchild – Sabrina Carpenter (5.6/10) A quick and poor attempt to make another hit song that resembles "Short N Sweet". Sabrina can never get the summer formula right, and the amount of basic choices and rehashes of older songs from Sabrina showcases this; she isn't one with the ideas. :( RE-ENTRIES: 90. Gnarly – KATSEYE [No thanks.] NOTEABLE CHANGES: Songs that climbed 10 spots or more: 73. Fame Is A G*n – Addison Rae (Up 21) [HIGHEST CLIMBER] 23. Love Me Not – Ravyn Lenae (Up 13) Songs that fell 10 spots or more: 96. Missing – Morgan Wallen (Down 22) 94. Cliché – Mgk (Down 16) 91. Kiss Her In Front Of You – Morgan Wallen (Down 21) 89. If You Were Mine – Morgan Wallen (Down 20) 87. Falling Apart – Morgan Wallen (Down 19) 86. Me Jalo – Fuerza Regida/Grupo Frontera (Down 10) 85. Skoal, Chevy and Browning – Morgan Wallen (Down 19) 84.
