Most people involved in plane crashes do survive. It's just that crashes involving light aircraft with very few people on board don't get reported.

Nobody usually survives commercial plane crashes due to the fuel and this one just took off so was fully loaded. He had the seat next to the emergency exit so maybe that helped him somehow… probably he got knocked out of the plane and avoided the fireball since he had no burns just impact injuries

It’s highly unusual but not unheard of to have a single survivor or very few survivors to such an accident. The crash in Korea earlier this year of a 737 saw 2 survivors iirc

Terrible accident and tragedy, the video is quite haunting as you can see well before the fireball that the only place that aircraft is going is down, it just has no lift at all. Hundreds of innocent lives gone in a second

A bit of a grisly rabbit hole but there is a Wikipedia page for sole survivors of flight crashes. Vesna Vulovic is a sole survivor who notably fell 10km and survived which is the highest freefall survived after her plane was brought down by explosives planted by the Croatian far right.

Pretty fascinating list. Though most were a lot smaller than this one. It comes down purely to luck more often than not

There has been a lot of conspiracies about that survivor. People think he’s lying but this angle does show him coming the direction of the plane.

It also blew up completely about 10 seconds after he walked from that position.

So if he hadn’t got out quick he would have perished for sure as well. I imagine that happens in other plane crashes. People survive but get knocked out or get stuck and can’t escape and then the plane blows up and they die.
