June 19Jun 19 Wow, 25 years ago since one of the greatest comebacks ever. Imagine if she had stayed with the indie sound, she quite likely would nowadays just be thought of as a cult 80s cheesy pop act with a few cool 90s hits. Amazing how much this single did for her in the long run, even weirder that it was written by Paula Abdul and you wonder if in a parallel universe she could have had the second wind!
June 19Jun 19 As I started following music and the charts around February that year, I wasn't hugely aware of Kylie before this point (aside from knowing a handful of songs).I'm always intrigued by whether it was thought at the turn of the millennium she'd ever pull something like this off, or if even in the run to to the release it was completely unexpected - I'd only seen she was at #1 before having heard the song yet!
June 19Jun 19 As a previously huge Kylie fan, who watched it all fall away and I started to lose interest, it was a massive surprise to see Spinning Around and Light Years do so well. But it was great to have her back!!
June 19Jun 19 'Spinning Around' as a song by itself isn't something I think highly personally but I understand why this is a highlight in her career at the time.
June 19Jun 19 Author I think I remember hearing “Put Yourself In My Place” on the radio before hand, but Spinning Around was my introduction to Kylie! And what an entrance she made for me!I was a bit stupid though, as I thought she was also the same woman who did 2 Faced.
June 20Jun 20 Author 30 Years Ago Today Michael Jackson released "HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I Edited June 20Jun 20 by SuperWooper
June 20Jun 20 I remember as a kid seeing that CD in the shops and being mesmerised by the artwork, always wanting to own my own copy one day and later in life I did! 😄
June 20Jun 20 Having a Michael Jackson Greatest Hits was a bit like having a Madonna Greatest Hits, you just looked at it and thought, "f-ing hell... The quality of the songs on it!"
June 20Jun 20 Author History, Number Ones, and Essential Michael Jackson are all amazing. Even though they are pretty much the same album, the time and effort put into those Greatest Hits compilations were brilliant.

July 13Jul 13 Forty years ago today, the Live Aid concert took place at Wembley Stadium and Philadelphia. I watched most of it on the TV. Queen's set was definitely the highlight.
July 13Jul 13 I saw BBC Two broadcast highlights of both concerts all evening yesterday. Greatest Hits Radio is playing tracks from the concerts today too.
July 25Jul 25 July 26 marks 20 years since the release of Paramore's debut album All We Know Is Falling. The deluxe edition was released to commemorate the album reaching 20 years. The first single 'Pressure' was, for some, the introduction of the young vocalist Hayley Williams. All We Know Is Falling had a humble release start and had nothing in commercial accolades to bring home, but its presence would snowball henceforth especially during the release of the breakthrough second album Riot!.To add my personal output on this: 'Pressure' was my first Paramore song. It was around 2006 or maybe 2007 I first heard of it and has stuck with me then as a 'classic' in their whole discography.
July 26Jul 26 Author I remember really getting into Riot and not even realising they had an album before it! Took me a couple of years to finally know it existed and it was like discovering treasure. Such a good album.
