Cup halftime show "What has the BBC done for you" and it made me think of Now Music if they did an advert "What has Now That's What I Call Music done for you" and how decades of loved music has been curated for our enjoyment to relive again and again. It probably should have stopped on a high some years ago now but it's desire to keep delivering, albeit not at anywhere near the standards of yesteryear, are to be applauded I feel.

The strangest things about artists who license their songs to certain compilations are the ones who for instance will license their music to the casual spin-offs but not the yearbooks ie. Def Leppard. If it was me, it would be the other way around and as for this weeks announcement, I hope they announce the next yearbook. This time last year, they announced the 1976 yearbook

I'm actually with @Hadji on hoping they announce the next yearbook. I'm also hoping it's 1975, because I guessed on it last time, and I was completely wrong.

Even if 1975 is next, they’ll get 1970 and 1971 done first before doing final chapters

I think I won't buy 124 as at least ANOTR and Prospa should be on it. I don't know why they omit dance and urban nowadays, but it is inexceptable. I want music on it representating the current music which is big in the charts. Eventhough this is limited nowadays, there are too much omissions.

I assume those of you who are outright negatively posting and reviewing 124 won't be buying it? Otherwise your point does not stick at all. You're allowed to be critical, sure, but this is something else and buying it after all of this would be hypocrisy.

Bravo Hits hasn't got ANOTR or Prospa either and they tend to be heavy on the dance, even dance that hasn't made the German charts they use for filler, and ANOTR has gone top 70 there so would be a prime pick. So perhaps licensing wasn't yet open to the compilers of Now and Bravo for these songs yet and they will be on Now 125 instead.

I'm sure they will be on the MOS Annual too, no doubt there is some holding back from Sony going on of songs for that to give people more of a reason to buy it.

The Eurovision exclusions are more puzzling to me, particularly Bangaranga. However this too is not on Bravo, and it got to No.1 in Germany, so who knows what is happening with licensing there.

Collectors will buy it regardless. It’s the casual buyers that won’t touch the numbered albums because of bad tracklists. They’ll look at it and think, I hardly know any of these songs. They should cater to both sides when it comes to the numbered series

It’s a bit odd for a collector to review bomb though.

I've put a 5-star review on iTunes to try and balance out these negatives, although it hasn't been published yet. It's not a 5-star album, but it's by no means a 1-star album, Disc 1 is a fair job for a start considering what they probably had available.

The Now compilers won't be reading the 1-star reviews and even if they did see them they really won't care or take anything on board as feedback, partly because their hands will be tied anyway as to what they are able to include.

However unfortunately consumers might well be reading them and be put off buying them, leading to even weaker sales and ultimately lowering Now's budget and making their job even harder to license hits.

All the bad reviews are doing is hastening the decline of the brand and I don't want the series to fold before they get all the Yearbooks out.

The collectors for sure definitely don’t wanna touch the casual spin-offs. Since the launch of the yearbooks, they’ve rendered the casual albums pointless. The casual spin-offs get bad reviews because they only use songs that appeared on yearbooks. Maybe with the numbered series, they should prioritise the singles chart and use the sales and airplay chart as filler rather than the other way round like they’re currently doing. If they wanna do any casual spin-offs, they should at least do something that hasn’t been done rather than something that’s been done to death. As for the eras, they cater more to the casual market than collectors market apart from the albums 1980-1984 which quite clearly caters to the collectors market. As for them not caring if they read the reviews, I’m sure they would care. It’s like a business. If a business is getting bad reviews whether it’s a restaurant, pub, bar, etc, no one’s gonna wanna go there. People do care if their businesses are getting bad reviews

Tell us all please about all the impeccable 5 star reviews that your bespoke business has? The point? There isn't one.

This is not a business masterclass and negative iTunes reviews only drive this "business" further into the ground so that it's gone forever. Is that what you want to happen Hadji?

Can you honestly believe that your complaints, whether on this forum, or anywhere else you may choose to share them on the internet, are really going to make a blind bit of difference to the "business model" of a compilation series that has existed longer than you have been alive on this planet?
