some faves here, Roxette and Black Velvet topped my charts, and Black Velvet will always remind me of my first Florida holiday, sultry and Blues-ey. Kim and Dirty Cash both peaked at 2 and still love

  • Lovely choice of number 1 there, I loved It Must Have Been Love and it was the song that really got me into Rosette for a couple of albums. It's also the first song I sung on karaoke - a very long tim

My ranking - I really like the top 7.

1 Bohemian Rhapsody / These Are The Days Of Our Lives

2 Ebenezer Goode

3 Hazard

4 Sleeping Satellite

5 It’s My Life

6 On A Ragga Tip

7 Just Another Day

8 The Best Things In Life Are Free

9 Deeply Dippy

10 Baker Street

Oh I absolutely loved Hazard at the time and it still holds really good memories now for me, I'd forgotten that it was still to come so it was a really nice surprise to see it that high. Just Another Day is a total surprise for me though, I'd never have picked it as your choice if I'd have seen the list in advance so it's nice to be surprised. I've just listened and I like it more now than I did back then, it's a strong song.

Overall there's lots to love from 1992 here, I think my list would be like this but tbh it's very close between all of the top 4 and they could easily be in a different order tomorrow:

01 Hazard

02 Sleeping Satellite

03 Ebenezer Goode

04 On A Ragga Tip

05 Just Another Day

06 These Are The Days Of Our Lives

07 It’s My Life

08 The Best Things In Life Are Free

09 Deeply Dippy

10 Baker Street

I just can't deal with the chorus of Ebenezer Goode any more

Unless we count 'Bohemian Rhapsody' which would be top by miles, 'On A Ragga Tip' is my favourite of these. Impressive for 'Just Another Day' to sell that many as a #5 hit around this time.

Can we just skip 1993?

😭

Feel much the same, it's a disappointing selection from the year I got into pop music, but there will be 3 songs I really like and a clear favourite for me.

3 number ones for me in 1993 11-20, another great track for 4 in total, 3 more i like, one where one of the tracks is a banger, and two which are extremely dull, snoozefest.

I've just taken a peak at the 11-20 songs for 1993 and have to concur with Colm that there is a LOT of dross in there. I bought 3 of them but wouldn't listen to any of them now, there's only two in there that I'd rate these days with my favourite being quite far ahead of the other.

Right. I've been avoiding this for 6 months.

This unholy mess isn't worth commenting on.

Blessed relief. A song that doesn't make me want to rip my ears off.

But it's all relative, I'm not a huge fan of this either.

'Young At Heart' is nostalgic for me as it was on the radio a lot in the 90s because of the rerelease. In a 1984 chart original release context it sounds like they were one of those bands who thought they were trying to be less commercial by not using synthesizers.

The reggae songs to me are summery and pretty good.

I am reminded how much Peter Andre copied the verse melody of 'Sweat A La Long'. 'Tease Me' is more of a dance track production-wise. 'Informer' is catchy!

The Take That track is boring.

Oops I like all of these except Take That. I love old reggae, and the 90's revival was welcome to those of us of a certain age with fond memories of when it was new and exciting in the 60's and 70's :) Snow my least fave of the rest, but adore Bluebells and rate Boom!

4 - Freddie Mercury - Living On My Own

Back then this would probably have topped the list but it's quite underwhelming now. Actually, everything in this list is underwhelming.

3 - Take That - Pray

This has stood up quite well.

Informer is by far my favourite so far, I actually like that more now than I did back then. Pray would be next best and Boom! after that as it is at least a bit fun. The rest I couldn’t care less about.
