Comparing the different formats with each other was interesting (to me x), seeing how strongly or not they do. Lorde the lowest on CDs (from artists who had them available), who knew!

Cassettes are a weird one to me. I wonder why a few artists get thousands of sales in this format, while some can only manage a few hundred? I think Lady Gaga's cassettes were quite limited for some reason - you'd think she'd have the scope to be up there with the likes of Sabrina and Sam selling 7,000+ cassettes, but she sold less than 2,000. I'm fairly sure Robbie only shifted the rather insane amount of 21,000 because of the signed poster, rather than his fans being crazy for cassettes lol.

It was mentioned in another thread that Alex Warren had "poor album physical sales [in week 1]", and sure, 6,527 in the first week is the lowest of those who had physicals available. However it's interesting that the sub-charts indicate that his album is not as frontloaded in terms of pure sales as some others were. Out of 26 albums, he has the 11th best sales chart run and 11th best physical chart run. So he may not have the fanbase to make a big splash in pure sales in the first week of availability, but he's trickle selling quite well. Clearly streaming is his main form of sales though.

Unfortunately I didn't do this in 2024, but I can try and find the time to do it so we can make those comparisons!

I've updated the "Sales Breakdown" post! I think the Chart Run Comparisons post is maybe a bit too much work to keep updating on a weekly basis, but I'll consider fully updating it after Christmas - probably less time consuming to do that x

IntrIntriguing why her cassettes were so low considering everything else was record breaking was it genuinely because there was only 1 cassette variant

Thanks for the updates Jay. I hadn't realised Taylor's week 1 digital sales (streaming + downloads) exceeded 100k - checking back, it's the first album to do so since 2017, as '÷' opened with 252,745 digital sales (78,944 streaming + 173,701 downloads).
